We discovered where the house is going we had about 2′ of soft muddy ground that had to be removed to get down to a good solid base. Then using the backhoe we dug good red clay from a borrow pit and spread it in the pad area. We used the backhoe to wheel roll the clay in lifts because we were unable to come up with a sheepsfoot roller. We put it in in 8″-12″ lifts to ensure good compaction. Then I starting digging on the driveway area we are going to cut down. I wanted to pile the brown clay to put back in the borrow pit for the driveway but there was not a ton of room so it was a lot piling here and there then backfilling. Thanks for watching! #EliteEarthworks #Takeuchi #buildingapad

You do what has to be done is what it amounts to for a correct job! Be thankful you know how to get it done. I subscribe to only about 4 or 5 of you who know what to do. (I'm sure there's more out there but, whatever!) Good job and thanks for another one.
Have to share this. I saw DIRT BOSS today attempting to back fill a garage foundation with a near 3 feet of snow coming to interrupt his plan. I still feel bad for him. All of you guys work so hard without nonsense. God bless to all of you. Sonny (CT)
Next time you see Mike drop kleeman on his head for experimental sakes lol
So bigger poop mobile and a 160 class machine talk to the boss Time lol
Looking at a TB 260 enclosed cab with 2000 hours for 40k. I’ve never owned any Takeuchi equipment, do you think this machine still has good life left? Thoughts?
Thanks again 👍
Good job Brandon. Got to get bad stuff out. My roller would work great on that job.
You'd be shocked at how many contractors would build in muck. All you have to do is look at the concrete in the basement.
You need a 400 class excavator and a couple 40 ton trucks on a job that size. Or about 20 skid kitties to move that much dirt 😂
Nice job buddy, it didn’t take you long to get that job turned around and looking good, your very good at what you do, and you do make it look easy even though I know it’s a lot of work, enjoyed the video looking forward to the next one
Need a 3ft tooth bucket!!! Big difference, love mine!!
Your skid steer will pack that clay like concrete, look like a fun job.
Do you think you are getting adequate (95%+) compaction with those wide soft tires on the backhoe? Probably possible but you would have to spread the material out in very thin lifts.
Nice work Brandon. I have a 3 footer for the E50, works great for making cuts like you were doing.
I have worked on construction site before and basically doing the same thing, but for a Fed Ex airport runway, tedious work
Are you just a little inspired by letsdig18, just need a little twain to your voice lol, nice of Frank to come help you huh? lol Great job! If you get that twain to your voice, Mrs Elite might hold your stick for free! 😂😂
Thanks for the video Brandon, it's nice to see a job done the right way, you do good work.
sheepsfoot rollers – these may be older, there isn't anything that goes bad on these. A roller can sit happily out in the yard until the next time you need it. The are photos of these on the websites.

Looks like it is wide enough to be divided into two parts small enough for a skidsteer to pull.

Watching your video had me wondering about something …. you dug the hole for the house pad, and then lined it with red clay. Now, from what I understand, red clay .. and clay in general .. does not allow for water to penetrate easily or at all. Now, why would a house pad / concrete slab be placed on top of a solid layer of clay? I am wondering if this clay isn't acting like a bathtub that will retain water from rain etc and prevent it from seeping further into the ground, causing the house to be sitting in that tub of water 'forever'?
Improvise, adapt, and overcome! Nice job!
“Boot Scootin’ Boogie’ came to mind when you wore doing the #packhoe-coochie2step
Does he realize how close he was to having a basement and storm shelter?
One good break is that the quarry is only two miles away… that’s where I get all my stone. I might drive by that site today… so don’t shoot at the pervert in the red pickup. Just slowing down to look at the progress.
Appreciate your ability to reuse material onsite. A lot of guys would have jumped on the chance to truck in more material and make some extra cash. I’m sure your client appreciates the cost saver as well. Good work bro!
moving a lot of material my friend! they hired the right guy for the job. looking good.
I thought you were trying to wear that dirt out. LOL.
Love watching you work man im just now learning to use a 125 backhoe got a handle on the basics after a few hours but that finesse good operators have seems far away.
It's coming together nicely! The coochie was getting a workout that day! Looks a lot better than the dirt you're normally working in! Thanks for the video!
I’m trying to build 7 feet high pad for house . Do U think footer/ foundation can be strong enough for one and half storage house?
What is that dirt called? And is it better than SB2? Thanks
