PDRA Double Header Set For DragWars at GALOT

By admin on September 8, 2025

With weather issues preventing the Red Line Oil PDRA Drag Racing Series from completing eliminations at the Thunder Valley Throwdown at Bristol Dragway in late August, the stage is set for a double header at the seventh of eight races on the 2025 PDRA schedule, ProFabrication DragWars presented by PST Driveshafts. GALOT Motorsports Park will play host to the completion of the Bristol race on Thursday before rolling into DragWars competition on Friday.

“This race is typically a tense one as we get closer to deciding world champions, but the ‘double header’ aspect just ramps up that intensity,” said Tyler Crossnoe, series director, PDRA. “We saw some wild first-round matchups at Bristol that could have serious championship implications, so it will be interesting to see how those story lines develop as we continue Thunder Valley Throwdown eliminations on Thursday. Then, it’s time to reset and go into qualifying for DragWars, which is always an exciting race.”

At Bristol, Switzer Dynamics Pro Nitrous points leader Amber Denton suffered a first-round exit, the first of her rookie season behind the wheel of the Musi-powered “OG Jungle Rat” ’69 Camaro. That opened the door for her father, three-time world champion Tommy Franklin, who went into Bristol No. 2 in points and made it through the first round after qualifying No. 1. Billy Albert, who started the weekend third, also went out in the opening round, while No. 4 ranked Marcus Butner moved on.

In WS Construction Pro Boost presented by P2 Contracting and Ty-Drive, points leader Ty Tutterow and two-time and defending world champion Jason Harris are separated by less than one round worth of points. Both drivers won first round at Bristol. While Tutterow rolls into GALOT as the points leader in Justin Smith’s screw-blown Quik Fuel ’69 Camaro, Harris enters as the defending event champion. No. 3 ranked Johnny Camp lost in the first round at Bristol, giving Melanie Salemi the chance to move up from fourth.

A major shakeup happened in Liberty’s Gears Pro Street presented by Menscer Motorsports, where points leader Blake Denton dropped his first-round match with defending world champion Ethan Steding, who sat just over four rounds behind Denton in second. The championship will likely come down to Denton and Steding, as 2023 world champion Bill Riddle and Super Bowl champion turned Pro Street rookie Fletcher Cox sit several rounds behind the two young guns.

Alan Drinkwater, the 2023 world champion in AED Competition Fuel Systems Extreme Pro Stock, padded his points lead by picking up a first-round win at Bristol in his Kaase-powered Flatout Gaskets ’08 Mustang. The two drivers within striking distance, recent first-time winner Jeremy Huffman and two-time and reigning world champion Chris Powers, both bowed out in the opening round at Bristol. 3V Performance is the Extreme Pro Stock presenting sponsor for the weekend.

The top two in points in PDRA Pro 632 presented by PTC Torque Converters didn’t change at Bristol, as points leader and 2023 world champion Jeff Melnick and challenger Lexi Tanner both won their first-round matchups. Melnick in Alan O’Brien’s Greenbrier Excavating & Paving ’20 Camaro leads Tanner by exactly three rounds, and the two could meet up in the Bristol final round.

PDRA Super Street presented by Brian’s Heating & Cooling, which returned to action at Bristol after a summer hiatus, saw points leader Connor McGee qualify No. 1 for the second time this season before getting a first-round win in his Fulton-powered ’90 Mustang. No. 3 ranked Austin Vincent took out No. 2 ranked Matt Schalow in their first-round match, moving Vincent into second.

The sportsman class points leaders going into Bristol were Bryan LaFlam in MagnaFuel Elite Top Sportsman presented by PAR Racing Engines, Kyle Harris in Laris Motorsports Insurance Elite Top Dragster presented by Greenbrier Excavating & Paving, Jeff Talvacchio in MagnaFuel Top Sportsman, and Nick Meloni in Laris Motorsports Insurance Top Dragster presented by Derrick Wolfe Trucking. LaFlam, Talvacchio, and Meloni are still in competition, while Harris lost in the first round at Bristol.

The PDRA’s Jr. Dragster classes also saw some big moves at Bristol, as Paragon Pro Jr. Dragster presented by Philadelphia Racing Products points leader Makenzie Alexander suffered a first-round loss while challengers Alyssa Rabon and Carter Jackson moved on. Jayden Hogan, the points leader in Classic Graphix Top Jr. Dragster presented by Philadelphia Racing Products, also bowed out early, opening the door for two-time winner Knox Schween.

Though not a points-chasing class, Edelbrock Bracket Bash presented by COMP Cams will be in competition at DragWars, providing an outlet for local bracket racers.

PDRA and GALOT Motorsports Park will offer a pre-race test session on Wednesday from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Testing is also available Thursday morning before Bristol eliminations resume at 12:45 p.m. starting with Pro Nitrous. Testing and Bristol eliminations will continue throughout the day, and Top Sportsman and Top Dragster qualifying for DragWars will end the day. Friday’s schedule begins with Jr. Dragster qualifying at 8:30 a.m., while pro qualifying will kick off at noon with additional sessions set for 4:15 p.m. and 8 p.m. Jr. Dragster final qualifying will start Saturday’s on-track activities at 8:30 a.m., with pre-race ceremonies and pro eliminations set for noon. FuelTech Winner’s Circle celebrations are scheduled for 9:30 p.m.

Tickets are available for $20 for Thursday, $25 for Friday, and $30 for Saturday. Kids and Junior tickets are also available. Purchase tickets at www.PDRA660.com or at the gate.
