Promoted by Billy Hoskinson and the team at Street Racing Channel, War at 304 took over West Virginia’s 304 Motorsports Park on Aug. 14-15 for a no-prep race at one of the most unique tracks in drag racing.

Located on a reclaimed mountain coal mine, 304 Motorsports Park began as Almost Heaven Motorsports Park and was later renamed Twin Branch Motorsports Park. The racing surface was completed 10 years ago, but due to local government red tape and other issues, the track sat dormant for several years. Last year, it was announced that past IHRA Pro Stock world champion Doug Kirk and his family bought the track and recently opened it under its current name, 304 Motorsports Park.

Hoskinson, a member of the Drag Illustrated 30 Under 30 Class of 2025, decided it was the right venue to host a no-prep event. Originally scheduled for June, War at 304 was rescheduled due to rain to this past weekend. Numerous big names from the no-prep world showed up to support Hoskinson and chase the sizable paychecks.

Friday’s lineup included Street Stick, Gangster 26s, True Street, and Daily Driver. Saturday featured Small Tire, Lil Gangstas, Hard Tire, Stick Shift, and 6.50 and 7.50 Index classes.

The Hoskinson family ended up in the winner’s circle times three, with Billy winning Heavyweight Small Tire, younger brother Tommy Hoskinson winning Middleweight Small Tire, and the boys’ father, Bill Hoskinson, picking up the 6.50 Index victory. Ryan Mitchell was another standout of the weekend, meeting Billy Hoskinson in the finals of two races. Mitchell won the High Roller Small Tire final over Hoskinson on Friday night, then Hoskinson defeated Mitchell in the Heavyweight Small Tire final on Saturday.

DI contributing photographer Kaitlyn Ward was on the grounds at 304 Motorsports Park photographing the action, from the starting line to the 20-mile True Street cruise through the hills of West Virginia.
