THE TIME HAS COME!!!



So THE TIME HAS FINALLY COME to build the forged engine for the S13, after weeks and weeks of searching for the parts, everyghtijg we need (pretty much) is here and we can finally forge the S13 engine, building a fully forged CA18DET!

So we could fully finish off the entire build as we found we were missing a few little bits and bobs, mainy gaskets and stuff! Which we couldn’t continue so we had to leave the build without the rocker cover gaskets on, without the timing belt on and some more bits.. but next time it will be built! And then we can get it back in the car!

Great insight into not just the rebuild but how difficult it can be to actually put these things together especially when building an older engine and car. Will all so be worth it. Great job by Jack and rusty as usual, proper decent lads everyone needs a rusty autos in their lives

  4. No point getting the crank balanced, fitting head drains, rods and forged slugs if you're not going to balance the entire rotating assembly. That's a lot of money to be spending to not do the job correctly. The fact they aren't double and tripple checking the big end and rod bearing clearances is another red flag. Doesn't matter how good your machinists is you always double and tripple check. If it spins a bearing who's going to take the blame? The machinists isn't going to because he said it was good to go and old mate didn't check it. Plus you could have a rod that's slightly out and you wont know because it wasn't checked. there are just far to many variables which is why you double and tripple check. The way they are weighing the rods is also incorrect. The damage on the head should have been fixed. I hope it holds together for you but I'd be getting it screwed together by someone else if i was you.
