Southeast Gassers Ready To Rumble In Ringgold At Brainerd Motorsports Park

The top nostalgia gasser drag racing that is the Southeast Gassers Association will rumble at Brainerd Motorsports Park for The Rumble in Ringgold presented by Harbin’s Mechanical Services. This race was postponed from its original date due to weather and will now take place June 12-13. Even with the postponement, SEGA at Brainerd Motorsports Park has proven time and time again that the rumbling action on the track is worth the wait.

A rumble that has remained reminiscent in the minds of SEGA fans and followers is a qualifying pass in 2016 featuring Donovan Stott and Greg Porter lined up against each other. Greg launched cleanly in his faded dark green 1955 Chevy, the Night Stalker, tracking straight and true. But the real action came from Donovan Stott. His white Anglia rumbled off the starting line, drifted over the centerline, and made a sharp right turn from the left lane, lightly tapping the retaining wall before hopping and landing in the right lane. Spectators were stunned that the car rolled away nearly unscathed, erupting into cheers for the impressive wheel‑job Donovan had just pulled off – a perfect example of why gassers remain some of the most thrilling, action-packed machines in drag racing.

Another rumble occurred in 2025 that shook up Jerry Dean’s bid for a perfect SEGA Super Stock season. The 2024 and 2025 Super Stock Champion nearly had a perfect season in 2025 except for his visit to Brainerd Motorsport Park. Though he appeared in the final round, it was not a round that he won, as we have become accustomed to seeing from Dominator Dean. Instead, it was long-time SEGA competitor Rob Walden earning the victory and SEGA trophy. It was his first win in a new Super Stock combination that he had stepped in for the season out of his 1933 Willys A/Gasser. From that loss on, Jerry Dean has not lost a single elimination round, racking up seven straight race wins.

The Rumble in Ringgold for 2026 will begin the tussle on Friday at 5 p.m. eastern with a SEGA-only test and tune ($20 admission). Saturday has qualifying scheduled for 1 p.m. eastern with championship eliminations to follow ($25 admission or $35 weekend pass). Southeast Gassers Association competition will go through heads-up eliminations to the completion of the event, with event champions determined by a first-to-the-finish-line authentic 1960s racing experience. See H/Gas and A/FX in exhibition along with the championship categories of Super Stock, C/Gas, B/Gas, and A/Gas rumbling down the track situated in north Georgia, just south of Chattanooga, Tennessee.
