Racing Rewind: Farmington Flex

Josh Chester flexed his muscles both on and off the track! Chester was a regular on the Don Plemmons-founded Quick-8 Racers Association circuit back in the mid-2000s when the series would tour to area tracks around the Carolinas.

They don’t call this tiny community in North Carolina “Farmington” for nothing, as the old-timey scene and machinery matches the name perfectly. The harvester who’s laboring away in the background paid no mind to the 185-plus-mph doorslammers as they would scream past the finish line, then quietly tow past him on the return road. Plemmons launched the Quick-8 Racers Association in 1990, and the series was a mainstay for the next decade-plus at area tracks. Farmington Dragway was among the very first to host the series after it was launched.
