NOAKES AND ELLIOTT CLAIM QUICK 32 SPORTSMAN SERIES LABOUR DAY WEEKEND VICTORIES
CAYUGA, ONTARIO — September 7, 2026 — Brooklyn Noakes and Jory Elliott claimed Quick 32 Sportsman Series victories during the John Scotti Canadian Championship Series, part of the NHRA National Open Double-Header Labour Day Weekend Spectacular at Toronto Motorsports Park in Cayuga, Ontario, September 4–6.
Noakes captured Saturday’s Quick 32 Sportsman Series title in a close final against Rob Gray, while Elliott took Sunday’s victory over Luke DeJonge.
Adding to the significance of the weekend, both winners earned a commemorative NHRA 75th Anniversary Diamond Wally, a special edition of drag racing’s most recognizable trophy created as part of NHRA’s 75th Anniversary celebration in 2026.
Noakes and Elliott also celebrated their victories in the Toronto Motorsports Park Winner’s Circle with Victory Mist, the Official Celebration Cuvée of the John Scotti Canadian Championship Series Labour Day Weekend.
NOAKES TAKES SATURDAY VICTORY
Saturday’s Quick 32 Sportsman Series final brought together Brooklyn Noakes of Ilderton, Ontario, in Top Dragster and Rob Gray of Salford, Ontario, in Top Sportsman, with the race decided by just over two-hundredths of a second.
Noakes, driving the Paul Noakes Racing 2001 Undercover Dragster, ran 4.814 seconds on a 4.81 dial-in with a 0.030 reaction time at 144.32 mph.
Gray, driving the Wilson and Gray Racing 2003 Jerry Bickel Race Cars Chevrolet Cavalier, ran 4.439 seconds on a 4.43 dial-in with a 0.047 reaction time at 159.91 mph.
The margin of victory was just 0.02244 seconds, giving Noakes and Paul Noakes Racing the Saturday Quick 32 Sportsman Series title.
Noakes advanced to the overall final after defeating Connor Riddler in the Top Dragster final, with Joe Angione and Peter Carpenter reaching the semi-finals. Angione was the Number 1 Top Dragster qualifier, running 4.547 seconds at 157.97 mph.
Gray advanced to the overall final after defeating Dave Burchell in the Top Sportsman final, with Cody Cook and Luke DeJonge reaching the semi-finals. Burchell was the Number 1 Top Sportsman qualifier, running 4.249 seconds at 176.12 mph.
Noakes’ dragster is powered by a 565 CID Steve Schmidt Racing Engines Big Block Chevy, with Paul Noakes and Patti Bruder serving as crew.
Gray’s Cavalier is powered by a 706 CID PAR Race Engines / Speedtech Nitrous combination. Wilson and Gray Racing also includes driver Bill Wilson of Ingersoll, Ontario, with Les Bodin, Bill Smitts, Heather Gray, Bobby Gray, Kayrn Benner and Jennifer Boyd making up the crew.
ELLIOTT WINS SUNDAY AND COLLECTS BOUNTY
Sunday produced another Top Dragster versus Top Sportsman showdown, with Jory Elliott of London, Ontario, facing Luke DeJonge of Puslinch, Ontario, for the overall Quick 32 Sportsman Series title.
Elliott, driving a 2005 Undercover Top Dragster powered by a 565 CID Oakley Motorsports Big Block Chevy, left the starting line with a 0.014 reaction time and ran 5.050 seconds on a 5.03 dial-in at 136.75 mph to secure the Sunday victory.
DeJonge, driving the FD Power 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt, recorded a 0.030 reaction time and ran 4.554 seconds on a 4.25 dial-in at 130.39 mph to earn the runner-up finish.
Adding to Elliott’s victory, he also collected the Engineered Racing Services Bounty Hunter Award by eliminating Saturday winner Brooklyn Noakes during Sunday’s competition.
Elliott advanced to the overall final after defeating Brooklyn Noakes in the Top Dragster final, with Madison Graham and Simon Gosselin reaching the semi-finals. Kyle Harris was the Number 1 Top Dragster qualifier with a 3.800-second pass at 196.71 mph.
DeJonge advanced to the overall final after defeating Dave Burchell in the Top Sportsman final, with Rob Gray and Michel Bastien reaching the semi-finals. Burchell earned his second Number 1 Top Sportsman qualifying position of the weekend, running 4.154 seconds at 177.55 mph.
DeJonge’s FD Power Cobalt is powered by a 763 CID Big Block Chevy with Induction Solutions Nitrous, with Fred DeJonge and Sarah DeJonge serving as crew.
The Labour Day Weekend double-header showcased the Quick 32 Sportsman Series format, bringing Top Dragster and Top Sportsman competitors together, with the winners of each class meeting to determine the overall Quick 32 Sportsman Series event champion.
