Greg Anderson Extends Pro Stock Points Lead in Norwalk

By admin on June 30, 2025

Pro Stock points leader and reigning world champion Greg Anderson drove his powerful HendrickCars.com Chevrolet to the 136th pole of his career at the Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals in Norwalk, and on Sunday at Summit Motorsports Park, he scooped in even more points toward a seventh world championship. With a semifinals performance, Anderson retains the points lead and is eager to get home to Mooresville, N.C., and get back to work ahead of the summer stretch out West.

“This was a great weekend for the KB Titan team,” said Anderson, who saw teammate Cory Reed claim his first victory in the class in a final-round battle with KB Titan Racing’s Dallas Glenn. “You know as well as anyone else out there that I want to win more than anything, but it was so neat, so special to see Cory get that win today. He’s worked so hard, and he earned it. I’m just so proud of him, and you can’t help but feel good seeing how happy he is.”

Anderson’s own journey through eliminations started with his fourth No. 1 qualifying position of the season, and the most winning driver in the history of Pro Stock (110) was well on track to locking down a fifth trophy on the season before the monstrous KB Titan horsepower overwhelmed the hot and relentlessly unforgiving racing surface. After throwing down low elapsed time of the entire meet in the opening round (6.574) and then clocking low e.t. of the round in the second act (6.594), tire shake for Anderson in the semifinals sent Reed ahead. Anderson was on the trailer before the final for the first time since the race in St. Louis last year.

Leaving Norwalk, the driver of the HendrickCars.com Chevrolet has a 50-point lead over Glenn, with KB Titan-powered Matt Hartford – winner of the GETTRX All-Star Callout – in third and Reed in fourth. KBT’s Eric Latino is No. 5 in the Pro Stock standings, while Deric Kramer, partnered with longtime Pro Stock crew chief Michael Hiner, set top speed of the event using KB Titan power (209.07 mph). He is currently No. 7, while rookie of the year contender Cody Coughlin – who scored a career-first No. qualifier in Epping under the stout KB Titan banner – rounds out the top 10.

“I’m so proud of this entire team and everyone at the race shop; from top to bottom, we’re the best we’ve ever been,” said Anderson, who is eagerly looking ahead to the next two races on the tour, the Northwest Nationals in Seattle and the DENSO Sonoma Nationals in California wine country.

“We have a little bit of time at the shop to get everything ready for the big trip out West,” he continued. “It’s full steam ahead for this team, and it isn’t going to get any easier – it’s only going to get harder as the competition catches up – so it’s all-hands-on-deck. It was a great weekend here at the Summit Racing Equipment Nationals, but the Countdown to the Championship is getting closer and closer. The work continues.”

The next race on the 2025 Mission Foods Drag Racing Series tour is the Muckleshoot Casino Resort NHRA Northwest Nationals in Seattle, July 18-20, followed directly by the DENSO Sonoma Nationals in Sonoma, Calif., July 25-27.
