The 2025 season is officially underway for the United Manual Transmission Racers (UMTR) South, as racers and fans packed Kil-Kare Raceway on Saturday, May 17, for the highly anticipated season opener. The event was proudly presented by Buckeye Lawn & Landscaping and Oheil Irrigation Company of Dayton, Ohio.
Under clear skies and with ideal racing conditions, the stick shift faithful were treated to side-by-side action across both Quick Stick and Street Stick classes.
In Quick Stick, it was a Mustang showdown in the final round. Jerry Greenham wheeled his 1970 Mustang to the winner’s circle, taking the victory over Dennis Duvall’s 1985 Mustang. Semi-final appearances went to Don Tully and Ken Herbert.

Street Stick featured a classic American muscle faceoff. Veteran racer Dick Miller drove his 1964 Corvette to the win over Mark Fox and his 1970 Plymouth Duster, with Ben Carter rounding out the semifinals.

UMTR South extends its gratitude to Kil-Kare Dragway for its continued hospitality and support. The organization also thanks its lineup of generous sponsors, including Summit Racing Equipment, VP Racing Fuels, Mickey Thompson Tires, Auto Works Towing Inc., G-Force Transmissions, and many more.
The next stop on the 2025 UMTR South schedule is set for June 7 at Edgewater Sports Park in Cleves, Ohio.
