Drag Illustrated 30 Under 30 List Celebrates 10 Years

Now in its 10th year of celebrating drag racing’s most promising and accomplished young people, Drag Illustrated is now accepting nominations for its 30 Under 30 list. The upcoming DI 30 Under 30 Issue will feature all 30 honorees, and a special press conference at the Performance Racing Industry (PRI) Show in December will further recognize the honorees and their accomplishments. Nominations will be accepted through Friday, Sept. 27.

“It’s surreal to think about the fact that the 30 Under 30 project started 10 years ago,” said Nate Van Wagnen, editor-in-chief, Drag Illustrated. “Personalities from all walks of the drag racing life have been featured on the 30 Under 30 list, from world champions in the professional ranks to fabricators and crew members who aren’t used to the spotlight. Drag racing is such a huge sport when you look at all of the different classes and organizations, and we try to include someone from as many of those groups as possible. It all starts with the nominations we receive from the people who believe in the potential honorees.”

The 30 Under 30 nomination process is used not as a voting process or popularity contest, but as a way to learn about potential honorees who might not compete on the national stage or in a prominent position. The DI editorial team uses the information submitted to help decide the list, but also to write the 30 individual features on each honoree.

The 30 Under 30 Issue will make its debut at the PRI Show in Indianapolis, where honorees will also take part in a press conference and induction ceremony at the Indiana Convention Center. During the ceremony, honorees will receive a custom jacket, as well as gift certificates and other gifts from 30 Under 30 program sponsors.

“For 10 years now, the 30 Under 30 list celebrates young trailblazers who invest their time, energy, and resources in the pursuit of excellence in drag racing,” said Wes Buck, founder and editorial director of Drag Illustrated. “We understand that the relentless drive, passion, and commitment these individuals display aren’t always recognized with trophies, accolades, or financial rewards. Success in motorsports often defies simple metrics. This program honors those who are making their mark by staying true to their values and pushing the boundaries of what’s possible.”
