Second year Pro Stock driver Camrie Caruso is looking to drive her Powerbuilt Tools/Tequila Comisario Day of the Dead Chevrolet Camaro into the winner’s circle this weekend at the NHRA Nevada Nationals to close out a successful sophomore season. After collecting Rookie of the Year honors last year Caruso won her first national event, the NHRA Arizona Nationals, and taken the trophy as the first ever Pro Stock Allstar Callout champion in 2023. With two more races left on her NHRA schedule Caruso is poised to secure a spot in the Pro Stock Top Ten for the first time and become a multi-time Pro Stock national event winner.
“Our Powerbuilt Tools/Tequila Comisario Chevrolet Camaro has been running really well during the Countdown there are just a ton of great cars in this category,” said Caruso. “We just need everything to come together on race day and we could see four win lights for sure. I love that we get four qualifying runs and that will give us some great data. This KB Titan Racing team is looking to have a long day on Sunday.
Racing with KB Titan Racing power for the first time this season Caruso has shown dramatic improvement under the hood and behind the steering wheel. As a rookie driver and team owner last season Caruso’s schedule was packed with team and driver duties. This season under the KB Titan Racing umbrella Caruso has been able to focus on driving and marketing her upstart team. The transition continues to evolve, but the ability to focus more on the racecar has been a blessing for Caruso.
“Last year coming into Las Vegas we were definitely battling to keep everything together,” said Caruso. “It was the end of our rookie season which was the longest season of my career. I don’t really remember too much about those last few Countdown races last year because so much was going on and we were just trying to do our best. This season has been awesome with KB Titan Racing, Powerbuilt Tools and Tequila Comisario. All our partners have stepped up and we are working on 2024 now so we will be even stronger next season.”
This Countdown experience has been a complete turnaround from last year for Caruso as she has advanced to multiple quarterfinals and has held onto her Top Ten position through the first four Countdown races. The challenge this weekend will be the tricky desert and altitude conditions that come with racing The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The support of her team and family will continue to keep Caruso focused on the task at hand.
“I couldn’t be out here without my family support,” said Caruso, a third generation drag racer. “My dad and Papa are at almost every race and that is a huge help. My teammates at KB Titan Racing have been super helpful and we all want to try and take out as many competitors to Greg (Anderson) since he has the best shot for the championship from the KB Titan Racing team. Greg, Dallas (Glenn) and Kyle (Koretsky) have been so supportive had helpful this season we want to finish as strong as possible.
Caruso and the Powerbuilt Tools/Tequila Comisario Chevrolet Camaro will be on track on Friday at noon and 3 p.m. PT for two qualifying runs. On Saturday they will make their final two qualifying passes at noon and 3 p.m. PT and the quickest 16 Pro Stock race cars will be on track for the first round of eliminations at noon PT on Sunday. The race will be televised nationally on FS1.
