The FASTEST Toyota?! 2021 Toyota Rav4 Prime Review

2021 Toyota Rav4 Prime review by The Straight Pipes. The Toyota Rav4 Prime is pumping out 302hp and a confusing amount of lb-ft tq from a 2.5L 4cyl Hybrid. At $57,245 CAD, Would you take it over a Tesla Model Y, Toyota Prius Prime, Toyota Rav4 Hybrid, Toyota Venza, Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV?

  1. Paddles are for regen braking. Same in my Accord hybrid. Semi useful I guess, like going down a hill. Then upshift to coast again

  2. The RAV4 Prime seems to have some type of program to determine how much range you have based on your driving style. When I drive on the freeway or drive stepping on the brakes and gas all the time, I get 41 mile range on a full charge. When I drive 25 mph and gently stop and accelerate (not super slow to be annoying), I get 45 mile range.

  3. I tried to order this exact model back in April, (I’m in Ontario). I searched 5 different dealers in my area and beyond … I was told 2-3 YEAR wait! I ended up going with the Camry Hybrid XSE (same colour combo you guys reviewed). Love the Camry but would’ve preferred a PHEV RAV4.

  4. Subaru lacking with the Hybrids. Really considering trading in the outback for one of these. Crosstrek too expensive for what it does.

  5. I can't wait to hear "2022 Tesla Model S Plaid with launch control" and watching Jakub do clench his teeth while saying "it's so fast…..it's so good"

I have felt a Model 3 Performance launch. I can't imagine what a Plaid launch would be like.

Oh and this gen of Rav4 is a really decent practical little SUV that's perfect for a daily driver or work commute vehicle. They look really good for a small SUV and the non-hyrbrid actually has decent acceleration with the 203hp 2.5L. Plus the 8spd transmission is a huge improvement over the previous generations transmission. We had the previous generation and then just went to a 2020 last year and it's so much better IMO. I love the way it handles on the road and it's super comfy for long trips. It's amazing on the highway with lane keep assist, blind spot monitoring and the radar cruise works perfectly. The only complaint I have is the dated infotainment center. That's it. It looks like it's from 2014 even though it's a 2020

  6. I read on the other article on the shifters, that they Do work depending on the driving mode you are in: in you are in Hybrid they do work as typical sport car shifters, if you in pure EV mode they do work to increase or decrease regen not sure if that is true but that was the explanation.

  7. Looks good! The new Corolla Cross is tempting, but at this time, it does not have a hybrid or plug in option, whereas the RAV4 Prime does, but of course it costs more.

  8. we have this and the map button DOES go to android auto maps automatically if connected…unsure about carplay but i have to guess it does it as well!
