The Event was the 1989 NHRA Supernationals from Houston Raceway Park in Baytown TX.
The Nitro Funny Car Final came down to 2 Oldsmobiles. The Sentry Tach and Gauges Olds of Future 89 Champion Bruce Larson. And a young upstart by the name of Scott Kalitta in his dad’s Olds.
The video speaks for itself.
(I will upload this entire event one day, but given the circumstances of this past weekend, I felt that this was needed by the youtube drag racing community to help remember Scott.)
Thanks for the memories Scott, and Godspeed
Great vid man! Dave McClellan was one of the best NHRA commentators ever! He and Steve Evans. God Bless You Scott! Thanks for the memories!
i was 9 years old when i watched this…how time flies. He was a gentleman on the track and off, and the sport has an irreplaceable loss.
about 1996/97 ish
You probably did, it took a little while for everybody to switch over.
Plus Jeggy was having great success with one. so he ran one till the end of the 2000 Season.
Thanks for watching.
THANKS FOR REMINDING ME!!!
School and work has pretty much kept me hopping this entire summer. But this weekend I have time to put it up. So watch for it by the end of the weekend.
I was there that night in Baytown and will never forget. Being a Kalitta fan from way back how could you not be happy to see his son win his first race.
