How to change brake pads and rotors on a Mazda MX5 Miata ND ND2- installing Carbotech XP10/XP8

I did not mention it the video but it is recommended to clean the rotors with a brake cleaner prior to the installation. Many times the rotors have a thin layer of oil to protect them from rusting prior to being installed. However the rotors I had where coated instead hence I did not see any need for that.

In todays video I will be showing how to install new brake pads and rotors on my 2019 MX5 30th Anniversary.
The car has 4 piston Brembo calipers up front and standar done piston calipers that is shared amongst all 2015-2021 MX5 ND and ND2 models.

I will be installing Carbotech XP10 on the fronts and Carbotech XP8 on the rears. I will also be installing OEM brembo brake rotors.

WIth regards to the brake fluid I will be running Motul RBF600 however I will do the fluid change once the we are close to the season start

  1. Great job Maz. One of the best videos on the net. Well documented. The only question is why did you replace the rotor?

  2. Very nice video! My front caliper(s) seem to be dragging from time to time, so I might put your instructions to practice soon.

  3. Thanks man! I'm about to put on my pads this weekend, very helpful! how's the brake noise with carbotech? I'm using G-loc (very similar compound) hoping its not too loud once it's bedded in properly

  5. As many have said, great job! Can you share a link to the caliper piston compression tool you used to eliminate the guessing. Amazon has a lot of choices and figured I'd get whatever you have bought which has proven to work.
