The Heathcote Nostalgia Nationals was put on by the Australian Nostalgia Racers club.
Held at the Heathcote Park Raceway in Victoria, the drag racing event was set up as a Chicago Shootout.
Chicago Shootout Rules:
Race Seeding:
All Brackets will be seeded on their reaction time in THE first qualifying session. If you run quicker than your
respective cut off you will be placed at the bottom of the field regardless of your reaction time also if you do
not front for the first qualifying session you will be placed at the rear of the field.
Finals:
At the completion of round three, a count back will be made to establish the finalists. The criteria will be as
follows:
A. Two racers with three round wins each โ automatic entry into the final regardless of red lights or
breakouts.
B. More than two races with three wins each โThe count back is then based on closest elapsed time to
nominated dial-in (no quicker than their dial-in) in any round of racing won. Reaction times play no part
in the count back. The two racers who are closest to their respective dial-ins are then eligible for the
final. If by chance the count back is a dead heat, it will then be based on the next closest to dial in any
round win.
With five categories competing, the variety of cars racing was impressive.
Vintage Gas for the gassers
US Muscle for the American muscle cars
Aus Muscle for the Australian muscle cars
Middle Eliminator for the smaller powered rails and Altereds.
Hot Rod for the pre 49 cars
The racing ran over two days with the drivers testing their mettle against each other while turning it on for the spectators.
Sit back and enjoy this track side view of the racing.

Great video guys, thanks for all the work. The Goblin, black fed.
Ps, my bug was there but couldn't get too dressed up. She's also the crew chief, push person, co mechanic, cook, etc etc

Great coverage. Fantastic videography. Subscribed.
I keep coming back and watching this video as it's VERY WELL done. ๐ Excellent video ๐
Thanks for posting. Very impressive rides (understatement). I was lucky enough to see the original A/FX cars in Southern California, with my first race attended at Irwindale Raceway in 1964. I still race my 70' Duster, and when schedules allow, make both the March Meet and California Hot Rod Reunion at Bakersfield. Nostalgia Drags โ๐
