With the 2025 NHRA Mountain Motor Pro Stock season fast approaching, Johnny Pluchino is trading out his familiar orange paint job for a brand-new look representing Ross Environmental Services, which will serve as Pluchino’s primary sponsor for the entire 2025 season. Pluchino will defend his Johnson’s Horsepowered Garage NHRA Mountain Motor Pro Stock world championship while also competing in PDRA Extreme Pro Stock, where he’s a two-time world champion.
Pluchino first partnered with Ross Environmental Services at the NHRA Mountain Motor Pro Stock season finale in Las Vegas last year. He qualified No. 1, won the event, and secured the championship. Earlier this month, with Ross bannered on the doors of the Pluchino Racing 2013 Mustang, Pluchino qualified No. 1 and won the third annual $25,000 Mountain Motor Pro Stock Invitation held at Bradenton Motorsports Park in conjunction with the World Series of Pro Mod. Pluchino has campaigned an orange car for almost a decade, first in PDRA Pro 632 before moving up to his father’s Mountain Motor Pro Stock car in 2020.
“Changing over from our tried-and-true orange to flying the Ross colors is extremely exciting,” Pluchino said. “I think the new scheme really pops and uses their trademark colors. We’re really excited to get a new look out there and to start flying their scheme.”
Pluchino was introduced to Ross Environmental Services by another team partner. It’s a family-owned-and-operated company based in Elyria, Ohio, with a background in hazardous and industrial waste management. Pluchino recently had the opportunity to visit Ross headquarters to learn more about the company he’ll represent this season.
“When we visited their facilities, it was amazing to see not only the work they do, but the work that this company does for their employees and their community,” Pluchino said. “It’s just a phenomenal company run by some really amazing people. It’s an honor to work with such an accomplished and community-friendly group. Our team is extremely excited about the opportunity.”
Pluchino is focused on scoring another NHRA Mountain Motor Pro Stock world championship in his Ross Environmental Services Ford Mustang. Pluchino Racing now holds six different world championships. Johnny’s father, John Pluchino, won the 2016 PDRA Extreme Pro Stock world championship, then Johnny won two PDRA Pro 632 titles before earning two more in Extreme Pro Stock.
“We race for championships first,” Pluchino said. “You have to put the wins together to get there. The number one’s on the car, and we plan to keep it there. We feel like we are the ones to beat. Having a partnership like this can only make us stronger as a team. Together, I feel like the wind’s in our back and we’re just gonna keep rolling and we ain’t looking back.”
Pluchino also pointed out that the team’s existing partners are returning for the eight-race NHRA Mountain Motor Pro Stock season, which begins at the NHRA Four-Wide Nationals, April 25-27, at zMAX Dragway outside Charlotte. New associate partners also joined the team over the winter.
“We appreciate New York Boom Trucks Inc. and S-K Speed signing on with us as well,” Pluchino said. “We have a great cast of returning partners. Jon Kaase is providing us with great horsepower. Ram Clutches, Kelling Equipment, Feather-Lite Batteries, Maxima Racing Oil, Hoosier Tire, and Combined Auto Body are all in our corner.”
