Fresh off back-to-back semifinal finishes during the NHRA Western Swing, four-time NHRA Top Fuel world champion Antron Brown will continue building momentum this weekend when he competes in the 49th annual Night Under Fire at Summit Motorsports Park in Norwalk, Ohio.
Brown will be one of four Top Fuel drivers competing in the annual marquee event on Saturday, Aug. 1, joining Doug Kalitta, Maddi Gordon and Clay Millican. Four Nitro Funny Cars – Ron Capps, Spencer Hyde, Cruz Pedregon and Jordan Vandergriff – will also compete as part of a new format that will crown Top Fuel and Funny Car champions before the winners square off to determine the event’s “King of Nitro.”
“I’m excited to be part of the Night Under Fire,” Brown said. “I can’t wait to be part of this new format of racing and have the chance to line up against a Funny Car. It’s going to be a lot of fun for the fans, and we’re looking forward to putting on a great show.”
Brown enters the weekend after advancing to the semifinals at both the DENSO NHRA Sonoma Nationals and the Muckleshoot Casino Resort NHRA Northwest Nationals, continuing to show consistency as the AB Motorsports team builds momentum heading into the final stretch of the NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series season.
One of the most recognizable events in drag racing, Night Under Fire combines elite nitro racing with specialty acts, jet cars and a fireworks finale.
Following Friday night qualifying on July 31, all nitro competitors will return Saturday for three rounds of competition. Racing gets underway at 7 p.m. ET on Aug. 1 before the evening wraps up with the event’s signature fireworks display.
