With champions spanning multiple generations, the event showcased the deep-rooted legacy of the NHRA Hot Rod Heritage Racing Series.<\/p>\n<p><em>Drag Illustrated <\/em>contributing photographer Tom Macht captured the action on and off the track.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Kaiser Cements His Status as a March Meet Great<\/strong><\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"2000\" height=\"1333\" src=\"https:\/\/dragillustrated.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/March-Meet_Tom-Macht-photo_21.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-82149\" \/><\/figure>\n<p>In Nostalgia Top Fuel, Pete Kaiser etched his name further into the history books, taking down three-time Heritage Series champion Tyler Hilton in a thrilling final. Kaiser\u2019s .049 reaction time secured a holeshot victory, with his 5.705-second, 254-mph pass edging out Hilton\u2019s 5.641 at 261 mph.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is my most gratifying March Meet victory,\u201d said Kaiser, who now adds this title to his 1995 win as a driver and 2021 triumph as a crew chief. \u201cI own the team, I\u2019m the crew chief, and my crew is my family. This one means everything.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Kaiser\u2019s victory also served as redemption after losing to Hilton in last year\u2019s California Hot Rod Reunion final, where Hilton secured his third straight championship.<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Capps Captures First March Meet Win in Nostalgia Funny Car<\/strong><\/h4>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"2000\" height=\"1333\" src=\"https:\/\/dragillustrated.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/March-Meet_Tom-Macht-photo_19.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-82147\" \/><\/figure>\n<p>Making his debut with Matthews Motorsports, Jon Capps turned heads by driving the team\u2019s Camaro to victory in Nostalgia Funny Car. The younger brother of three-time NHRA Funny Car world champion Ron Capps, Jon delivered a consistent performance all weekend.<\/p>\n<p>In the final, Capps faced Shane Westerfield, who had dominated qualifying with a 5.566-second run in the Bucky Austin-tuned Bardahl Camaro. However, Westerfield left the line .032 seconds too soon, handing Capps his first March Meet victory via a red-light start.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou aren\u2019t supposed to come to a new team and have the best race of your career, but that\u2019s exactly what happened,\u201d said Capps. \u201cThis was my best driving job, and the way this team clicked was just unreal.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Capps now looks ahead to the NHRA Arizona Nationals, where he will pilot the Winefsky Family Nitro Funny Car.<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Hough Wins Fuel Altered in Emotional Triumph<\/strong><\/h4>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"2000\" height=\"1333\" src=\"https:\/\/dragillustrated.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/March-Meet_Tom-Macht-photo_18.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-82146\" \/><\/figure>\n<p>The AA\/Fuel Altered final was a battle between two Las Vegas-based drivers, as Kyle Hough lined up against Mark Whynaught. Just a day before the two-year anniversary of his grandfather Dave Hough\u2019s passing, Kyle delivered a memorable victory.<\/p>\n<p>Hough\u2019s 6.110-second run edged out Whynaught\u2019s 6.353, despite Whynaught grabbing the initial advantage at the tree. The win was even more remarkable given Hough\u2019s challenging start to the event\u2014his Sheepherder Fuel Altered had a testing accident on Thursday, striking the wall.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo go through what we did this weekend and still win, it\u2019s emotional and unbelievable,\u201d said Hough. \u201cMonday marks two years since I lost my grandfather. To hold that March Meet trophy\u2014just unbelievable.\u201d<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Bates, Woodard, and Local Favorites Add to the Winner\u2019s Circle<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>In A\/Fuel, Kin Bates took home another March Meet title, defeating reigning Heritage Series champion Wayne Ramay in the final. Meanwhile, Brad Woodard continued his dominance in Junior Fuel, besting Alan Hull.<\/p>\n<p>Five local racers claimed victory at their home track, including:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Krista Suydam (7.0 Pro)<\/li>\n<li>Ted New (NEII)<\/li>\n<li>Mike Williams (B\/Gas)<\/li>\n<li>Beau Dyson (C\/Gas)<\/li>\n<li>Tanner Wattenbarger (Hot Rod)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Additional winners included:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Dave Isley (NEI)<\/li>\n<li>Mike Munson (NEIII)<\/li>\n<li>Brian Rogers (A\/Gas)<\/li>\n<li>Bill Norton (B\/Gas)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Next Stop: Tucson Dragway &amp; Boise\u2019s Ignitor<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The NHRA Hot Rod Heritage Series now heads to Tucson Dragway for the Tucson Dragway Reunion (April 5-6), where Group 1 and 2 cars will take center stage. Nitro Funny Car returns at the NAPA Auto Parts Ignitor presented by The Blower Shop (May 16-18) at Firebird Raceway in Boise, Idaho.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img
