\u201cI\u2019m flying to North Carolina to Pat\u2019s place to make sure I have enough bullets and enough horsepower to come out there and slap the [expletive] out of all of them,\u201d Haney says with trademark swagger.<\/p>\n
Though he missed the inaugural Winter Series event, Haney\u2019s season has already been busy. Hot off a strong 2024 campaign\u2014finishing runner-up in MWDRS and even adding a turbo combination to his stable\u2014Haney is arriving in Florida determined to prove nitrous cars can still hang with the best of the best.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf I line up next to [my own] turbo car, I\u2019ll bust its ass, too. Doesn\u2019t matter if it\u2019s Shawn (Ellington) or you driving it. I don\u2019t care,\u201d Haney adds, highlighting not only his playful trash talk but also the all-in rivalry he\u2019s willing to have\u2014even with his own equipment.<\/p>\n
Haney\u2019s presence alone ups the ante for the next two stops of the DI Winter Series. Not only does he bring an enthusiastic fan following, but he also contributes a heavyweight rivalry component against top names like Stevie \u201cFast\u201d Jackson, Jason Harris, and others. Haney says the chance to mix it up with drivers and teams from different series is a big part of what draws him to Bradenton.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe best of the best are showing up, ready to tear down the walls to prove who\u2019s the baddest on the planet. That\u2019s what I love about these events. I don\u2019t get to race some of these guys very often, so this is fun. I don\u2019t care if it\u2019s the Snowbirds, U.S. Streets, or the World Series\u2014I\u2019m going for it all.\u201d<\/p>\n
He also credits the camaraderie that emerges in these off-season shootouts, calling out fellow drivers and teams by name as friends or rivals\u2014sometimes both. For Haney, that\u2019s what makes the Winter Series special.<\/p>\n
\u201cI like meeting new people, running with guys I barely know. That\u2019s what it\u2019s about. And there\u2019s no better feeling than seeing someone get in on that final qualifying pass or laying down a career-best run.\u201d<\/p>\n
The \u201cBlack Mamba\u201d is currently staged at tuner Manny Buginga\u2019s shop in Florida, awaiting Haney\u2019s arrival. Once the nitrous-injected hot rod is dialed in, the Oklahoma native and MWDRS founder says he\u2019ll be focused on turning on win lights\u2014and \u201cgoing 50s\u201d if that\u2019s what it takes.<\/p>\n
Haney is slated to begin his 2025 Winter Series campaign at the U.S. Street Nationals (January 22\u201325) before heading to the season finale, the World Series of Pro Mod (February 6\u20139). Fans can look forward to intense, door-to-door action with plenty of classic Keith Haney flair\u2014part nitrous power, part unstoppable confidence, and all entertainment.<\/p>\n
