One day after securing the coveted GETTRX NHRA Pro Stock All-Star Callout trophy and championship belt, Greg Anderson powered his HendrickCars.com Chevrolet Camaro to the semifinals at Chicago\u2019s Gerber Collision & Glass NHRA Route 66 Nationals. The triumphant weekend was cut a bit short for the driver who owns an astounding 105 national event wins, but a strong semifinals finish has the five-time world champion just three points out of the top position and eager to keep momentum rolling.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was a pretty fair weekend for KB Titan Racing, and I\u2019m just so proud of the group we have,\u201d said Anderson, who applauded teammate Dallas Glenn for his final-round victory over Elite Motorsports driver Aaron Stanfield. \u201cDallas did a great job today, and everyone on this team has just been awesome. They say you have to surround yourself with great people if you want to succeed, and I have absolutely done that. What a team.\u201d<\/p>\n
Qualified in the No. 3 position for the Route 66 Nationals, Anderson picked up eight additional bonus points with what was arguably one of the very best race cars on the property. He entered the event leading the points over then-second-place Erica Enders, who ultimately fell to third by the conclusion of the event. Glenn now leads the points with Anderson just behind in the No. 2 position. \u00a0<\/p>\n
With the coveted GETTRX NHRA Pro Sock All-Star Callout victory still fresh in his memory, Anderson was out of the gate with a quicker reaction time and a 6.597-second pass at 208.04 mph to defeat KB Titan teammate Deric Kramer\u2019s 6.593, 206.42 on a holeshot in round one.<\/p>\n
That gave him lane choice in the second stanza, and there he made the quickest run of the round \u2013 a 6.588, 208.49 against red-lighting Cristian Cuadra \u2013 in a slam-dunk win that set him up for a semifinals meeting with Glenn. Anderson came on charging in his HendrickCars.com Chevy, but Glenn\u2019s low elapsed time of the day got the nod, 6.565, 208.10 to 6.582, 208.23.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe didn\u2019t get as far as we had hoped today with my HendrickCars.com Chevrolet, but there is more positive than negative to come out of this weekend, that\u2019s for sure,\u201d said Anderson. \u201cTo win the GETTRX All-Star Callout was certainly a high point, a shot in the arm. Then to come into today with a car that was very capable of winning the race, that\u2019s all you can ask for. We get to try again in just a couple of weeks, and I promise you, we\u2019re going to do everything we can to keep the momentum going for KB Titan.\u201d<\/p>\n
The next event on the Mission Foods Drag Racing Series tour will be the NHRA New England Nationals in Epping, N.H., May 31-June 2, 2024.<\/p>\n
