There is a post on his Facebook page giving similar details.\u00a0March 27, 2024.\u00a0\u201cHi, racing pals, I just wanted you to know I was assaulted by a homeless man out in from of my house last Wednesday, March 20th. The Police came and arrested him, and my son Tim took me to emergency to get checked out. I got a clean bill of health and went back to the Isky Plant later that same day. Then I went to Roland Leong\u2019s Memorial the next day at the Lions Museum. You can\u2019t keep this Legend down! Thanks for your concerns. \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0I have some good, updated news on Ed. I\u2019d like to ask you to put it out as soon as you can.\u00a0Just off the phone with Ed. He\u2019s Ok and in good spirits. He gave me a brief description of what happened on the street near his home. A derelict fellow approached him, knocked Ed down and took off with Ed\u2019s cell phone. Ed called the police, and the police used the \u201cfind\u201d feature on Ed\u2019s phone to track\u00a0him\u00a0down. Ed was far more nominal about it than I was, and that\u2019s an understatement. He sounded fine, said he\u2019ll have to be more careful in the future and (since I told him that a lot of his friends were very concerned) asked that I thank them for worrying about him.\u00a0Doug Stokes<\/strong>.<\/div>\n
