It is a mission that is personal for Brown after losing people close to him who learned of their diagnoses too late.

“I’ve lost close friends and family members who found out too late, so this is personal for me,” Brown said. “Early detection is key. I want to use my platform to spread awareness and encourage men to get tested and talk with their doctors. If sharing this message helps one person take that step sooner, then we’re making a difference.”

Other than skin cancer, prostate cancer is the second most commonly diagnosed cancer among U.S. men and the second-leading cause of cancer death, according to the American Cancer Society, which estimates 333,830 new cases and 36,320 deaths in 2026. Black men are nearly 70% more likely than White men to be diagnosed and twice as likely to die from the disease. The ACS recommends that men make an informed decision with their healthcare provider about prostate cancer screening, with that conversation beginning at age 50 for men at average risk and earlier for men at higher risk.

Motorsports has long been part of PCC founder Kelly Fedorowich Beard’s connection to the prostate cancer community. Her family’s experience with prostate cancer led her into years of support and community work, including establishing a group for wives, partners and caregivers and later serving as Executive Director of a prostate cancer organization. That role gave her the opportunity to work closely with patients, families and the broader community and helped shape PCC’s approach to reaching men and their loved ones where they already gather.

“Antron brings far more than visibility to PCC. He brings credibility, trust and an authentic connection to the motorsports community,” Fedorowich Beard said. “We believe his voice can help us reach men and their loved ones in places where conversations about prostate cancer don’t always happen. Having him join PCC as our Founding Motorsports Ambassador opens an entirely new way for us to deliver education, awareness and support.”

The mission is also personal for PCC Founding Director Lee Beard, who served as Gary Ormsby’s crew chief. Beard helped guide Ormsby to six national-event victories and the 1989 NHRA Top Fuel world championship. They won another six races in 1990 and narrowly missed a second consecutive championship. They were planning to expand to a two-car team before Ormsby was diagnosed with prostate cancer. He died from complications of the disease in August 1991 at age 49.

“Antron is a world champion on the track and a world-class leader away from it,” Beard said. “I’ve known him for a long time, and I’ve had the privilege of watching him grow from a tremendously talented racer into a champion, team owner and someone people genuinely look up to. Having him step forward now to help PCC reach men and families means a great deal to me personally. Antron has always understood the importance of having the right people around you, and that belief is at the heart of what PCC is building.”

As PCC’s Founding Motorsports Ambassador, Brown will help connect race fans, teams, industry members, and their families with prostate cancer education, resources, and support.

For more information about Prostate Cancer Connection, follow PCC on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/prostatecancerconnection.
