This year, with big purses for the winners, with $25000 to win Pro Mod, as well as being a Fueltech Radial Outlaw Racing Series Event for Pro 275 Limited Drag Radial & Ultra Street. It brought out the big players. Add in the Warrior Outlaws & 6 Second Outlaw Imports & great sportsman & Index Action, and the legacy was reinforced.

After rain and thunderstorms wiped out Wednesday testing and delayed Thursday Testing into the afternoon & night, the event stayed dry (no precipitation until after racing on Friday Night) but was variably humid.

In Switzer Dynamics Pro Mod, Fletcher Cox, driving his Blown 68 Camaro tuned by the 1 & only Stevie “Fast” Jackson, after banging the blower during Thursday Night Testing, came out Friday Night during Q2 to be the lone 3.50 run of qualifying with a 3.589 207.46 to qualify #1 out of the 16 Pro Mods on the Property.

#2 was Jason Lee taking his Coast Packing Company Camaro to the #2 spot in the Final Qualifying Session Saturday Morning with a 3.601 208.07

Steve King took his Savage Blown Corvette to the #3 Spot with a pair of 3.624s on Friday but had a faster speed in the Morning first session at 206.80 & then banged the blower in the night session to run 3.624 206.51.

Cecil County Dragway’s “Bossman” Jim Halsey took his Nitrous Assisted Fulton Powered “Blacklist” 68 Camaro to the #4 spot with a 3.630 209.56 during final Qualifying.

One of the big stories in Pro Mod was the return of the Quickest & Fastest doorslammer on the planet, driven by Jimmy Taylor. After crashing at the World Series of Pro Mod back in February. The team worked feverishly to bring the Twin Turbocharged Xtreme Racing Engines-powered Chevy Camaro back to the battlefield. They tested at Budds Creek earlier in the week to get ready for this event, the first since Bradenton. Jimmy would go to the #5 Spot with a 3.632 at a top speed of 218.87 on Friday Night.

Frank Falter IV took his Candy Man Camaro to the 6th spot with a 3.635 at 205.32 during the First Session Friday AM. Chuck Ulsch & Lee’s Teammate Cameron Hensley made up 7th & 8th; both ran 3.647, but Ulsch ran 206.99 with his ET in final qualifying to get #7, while Hensley ran his ET Friday night with a speed of 205.16 MPH.

Andy Jensen brought his trust Small Block Single Turbo Camaro to #9 with a 3.657 210.67.

The other big Pro Mod story was the long-awaited debut of Keith Haney’s “Gladiator” Quarter-Max Built, Pat Musi-powered, Switzer Dynamics-tuned Camaro. After troubles during the burnout in Thursday Night testing, Haney made 3 consistent runs in the Mid to high 3.60s with a best of 3.661/205.19 in Final Qualifying Saturday to put him #10.

Haney would lead the remaining Nitrous Cars behind Halsey as Derrick Ford’s Fulton Powered 68 Camaro at #11 3.665/204.17 from Friday Morning & Matt Deitsch Jr’s Musi Powered 68 Camaro at #12 with a 3.692/204.35 from Saturday.

Bubba Greene, driving his Scotty Cannon-tuned “Killer Mater,” was #13 with a 3.706/203.77. David DeMarco, debuting a New Supercharged Camaro, qualified #14 with a 3.767/194.74.

Manny Buginga’s ProCharger Mustang & Chris Russo’s Blown Camaro rounded out the field.

Round 1 of Eliminations ran under the Lights Saturday Night under slightly cooler conditions, where all the top-half qualifiers would advance.

Steve King started things off, becoming the 2nd to go in the 3.50s for the weekend with a 3.574/209.07 to take down David DeMarco’s best weekend performance of 3.692/201.67. Frank Falter IV would get the easy win with a 3.656/196.67 after Derrick Ford red-lighted. #1 Qualifier Fletcher Cox picked up a thousandth from his qualifying run with a 3.588/210.01 to defeat Chris Russo whom after going .000 perfect Continued to have problems as he had all weekend, limping to a 4.084/139.01, his best #s of the weekend. Still, Russo’s performances are known to be leaps & bounds better.

In the battle of the ProChargers, Jason Lee took his Camaro to run 3.609/205.47 to defeat Manny Buginga’s Mustang, making his best run of the event at 3.692/204.70. Jim Halsey brought his Nitrous Fed Camaro into the 3.50 club with a 3.564/210.97 to take down Bubba Greene’s 3,692/204.70, Greene’s best of the event as well.

Chuck Ulsch needed all of the .001 Light to run 3.621/208.30 to get the holeshot win over the Gladiator of Keith Haney, who also ran his best of the event with a 3.619/207.69.

Then came Jimmy Taylor’s Twin Turbocharged Camaro to continue to make its return to its notorious performance ways by running Low ET & Top Speed of the entire event with a 3.559/220.91 to take down Matt Deitsch Jr. Wrapping up Round 1, Cameron Hensley took his Supercharged Camaro into the 3.50s with a 3.585/207.66 to defeat the Small Block Single Turbo entry of Andy Jensen.

Sunday AM’s Round 2 started with Steve King once again taking on The Candy Man of Frank Falter IV. King got a gift here in round 2 after Falter went .008 Red & threw away a 3.773 off the throttle at 168.09 while King had problems & coasted to victory. To King’s credit, he was .002 Green off the line. Then came the 2 Fastest cars on the property, with Jimmy Taylor’s Twin Turbo Camaro taking on Jim Halsey. Both made a slight move to the right late & Taylor appeared to have the win. However, when Taylor went near the wall, Taylor’s Bullhorn exhaust pipe made contact with the wall before crossing the stripe; an instant disqualification. Therefore, Halsey was officially the winner. Next came the first of the 2 Jason Lee Team cars, as Cameron Hensley paired up against #1 Qualifier Fletcher Cox. Hensley tried to push the tree but pushed too much & went deep red at .154; meanwhile, Cox ran another 3.58 pass, improving by 7 hundredths from his R1 winning time with a 3.581/210.01. Lastly, #2 Qualifier Jason Lee took his White ProCharger Camaro up against Maryland’s own Chuck Ulsch. Ulsch was no match for Lee, who finally joined the 3.50 club with a 3.597/207.53 to Ulsch’s 3.622/207.66.

The Semis would have the top 4 qualifiers starting with #2 Qualifier Jason Lee having lane choice over #3 Qualifier Steve King. King held 4 hundredths out of the gate with a .004 Light to Lee’s .043, but Lee used every bit of his ProCharger to get around King & take the win with a 3.618/207.69 to King’s 3.668 at an off-the-throttle early 187.60. Then Fletcher Cox took on the last hope for the Nitrous Cars with Jim Halsey. Halsey, like Hensley before, knew he had to cut a light on Cox if he wanted a chance. In Round 2, Halsey went .007 Green against Taylor & was hoping for a similar fortune here against the #1 Qualifier. Unfortunately, the “Bossman of Cecil County Dragway” pushed a little too much & went .011 red to give Cox the win, where Cox made yet another 3.50 run with a 3.590/209.85, his slowest 3.50 all weekend & 2nd slowest overall. Halsey threw away a 3.620/210.08.

The Final was now set between #1 & #2 Qualifiers. Cox Had Lane Choice once again & just like in the Semis took the Right Lane. Also, once again it was a case of Cox’s opponent trying to match what Russo did in Round 1 & get that .000 Perfect light, but pushing too much to light the Cherry as Lee went red by .067, giving the win & $25k check to Cox whom returned to his 3.58 ways with a 3.582 at 208.75 to Lee’s thrown-away 3.618/208.97. It was the ideal redemption story for Fletcher after the DNQ second-to-last on the qualifying sheet performance at the PDRA DragWars in Benson a week before being in the winner’s circle with a $25,000 Check at Yellowbullet. Expect many more trips to the Pro Mod winner’s circle for Fletcher & Stevie Fast.

The 17th Annual Yellowbullet Nationals also brought the FuelTech Radial Outlaw Racing Series to the Northeast, where some of the country’s big Radial Hitters would do battle with a bevy of the Cecil County Outlaw Street Car Shootout stalwarts.

Pro 275 brought 4 (one was a replacement driver) of the Top 5 points runners, with less than 50 points separating #1 in Points Grantley Schloss from #5 Mo Hall, the Cecil County Regular. #2 in points, Nick Lacerenza, came in 11.5 points behind Schloss & was wanting to capitalize on being back in the northeast. #3 in points is Lyle Barnett, driving Tommy Youmans’s Harts Charger-powered Ford Mustang; however, Lyle was at Indy for the US Nationals doing his other Driving duty for Billy Banaka’s 2nd Team Camaro & claiming points for Lyle at Yellowbullet was Marcus Birt, making his return to the driver’s Seat.

Friday’s humid conditions gave the 275 racers their share of Trouble. Mo Hall made the best run of the day when it was all set & done Friday night with a 3.728 at a speed of 201.49. Birt had top speed with 202.79 with his 3.746 to be #4 going into Final Qualifying Saturday AM.

Saturday Morning was when all the shifting happened for the top spot, with the best conditions of all qualifying, with just the right Cloud Cover. First, Marcus Birt ran 3.723/205.13 to jump to the top. Then Texan Jared Ring & his Hart’s Charger-powered Cadillac broke into the 3.60s with a 3.695 at only 199.55; Rob Golobo & his Michigan-based Chevy Corvette ran alongside & ran 3.719/201.91. Lastly, 2 of the regular Outlaw Street Car Shootout competitors, Blaine Johnson in his supercharged Black Chevy Nova & Mo Hall, who started at #1 & had been shifted down to #4 at this time. Mo would run 3.701/202.45, his best qualifying run, but all eyes & ears were on Johnson, who ran 3.686/203.58 to take the #1 Qualifying spot, with Ring, Hall, Golobo & Birt as the top 5 on the qualifying order.

6th Was Kevin Mullins’s Procharger Mustang with a 3.770/196.53. Adam Preston Driving the Preston/Dampier Orange Turbocharged Corvette, ran 3.772 at top Speed 209.62 to put him 7th. Points leader Grantley Schloss qualified #8 with a 3.802/202.24. Troy Pirez Jr. was 9th, driving Cameron Johnson’s “Eagle” Camaro, with a 3.855/196.16. Steve Gorman was #10 with 3.873/202.70. Michael Nale was #11 with a 3.881/198.47. Jarid Tshudy was #12; Brad Edwards’s Turbocharged Entry struggled, positioning himself at #13. Lacerenza struggled all through qualifying to finish 14th & putting him in a Round 1 Matchup with Mo Hall, with Points Ramifications at stake. Bob Clayton’s Mustang was #15 & Dylan Cato rounded out the 16 cars on the property.

Saturday Night Round 1 kicked off with #1 Qualifier Johnson making work of #16 qualifier Dylan Cato, running a 3.693/204.91. #2 Qualifier Jared Ring did the same with #15 qualifier Bob Clayton, running 3.727/198.61. Then came the Big Matchup of #2 in points vs #5 in points as Mo Hall & Nick Lacerenza faced off. Mo Ran Low ET of the event 3.658 at 203.37 while Lacerenza had the “Why couldn’t I have ran this during qualifying?” losing time of 3.767/204.05. Then came Rob Golobo vs. Brad Edwards, where Golobo got the win with a 3.720/201.82 to Edwards’s 3.785/208.23. Marcus Birt ran 3.705/205.47 to stop Jarid Tshudy’s losing 3.983/168.18. Michael Nale was the lone bottom Half Qualifier to advance, catching Kevin Mullins asleep at .167 at the tree & netted up a Holeshot win with his .017 light to run 3.808/203.37 to Mullins’s 3.807/183.02. Adam Preston defeated Steve Gorman 3.721 at 211.93, Top Speed of the Event to Gorman’s losing 3.858/192.88. Round 1 (and Saturday’s Racing program) would be completed with points Leader Schloss taking down Pirez 3.727/204.70 by Schloss to 3.777/197.42. Both making their best runs of the weekend.

Pro275 would kick off Sunday’s eliminations with Mo Hall’s Fulton Powered Nitrous-fed Corvette taking on the #11 qualifier Michael Nale’s white Camaro. Nale was James Bond Green .007 on the tree, holding 3 hundredths on Hall, but Hall drove around him & ran a 3.691/202.61 to Nale’s 3.754/204.17. Then came the battle of Black Supercharged Novas with #1 Qualifier Johnson from Hainesport, NJ, taking on the Aussie Schloss, #1 in the Fueltech Radial Outlaw Racing Series Pro275 Points. Schloss pushed the tree a little too much & went .012 red, giving the win to Johnson, who was .010 green on the tree & ran 3.700/205.19; Schloss threw away a 3.752/203.86. Now, with Schloss eliminated, the door opened for a new points leader. Marcus Birt knew that was within his grasp for Lyle Barnett when he faced Rob Golobo in their 2nd-round match. Golobo left on Birt .027 to .043, but Birt needed that Lee White Tuned Harts Charger power to drive around Golobo to make his best run of the weekend, joining the 3.60 brigade with a 3.676/204.94 to Golobo’s losing 3.710/204.35, also his best run of the weekend. Wrapping up round 2, Jared Ring’s caddy took down the Turbocharged Vette of Adam Preston, running a 3.698/200.98, while Preston had problems.

The Evening Semis came around as the sun went down, with #1 Qualifier Johnson trying to stop Marcus Birt. Birt was .004 out of the gate to Johnson’s .047, but they both had to pedal; Johnson had to pedal less & went on to advance to the final with a 4.467/174.89, very likely to give up lane choice. The other semi had Mo Hall taking on Jared Ring. Ring, like Birt, had problems early & Hall won on a walkover with a 3.699 202.15 to get lane Choice in the final.

What would be the Final race of the 17th Annual YellowBullet nationals under the stars pit 2 Outlaw Street Car Shootout Regular faces. Hall would take another James Bond Green .007 light & streak away from a coasting Johnson with a 3.669/203.00 to win the YellowBullet Nationals & $20,000 Check. It was also his 3rd Radial Outlaw Racing Series win in a row after winning the Kentucky Battle for the Thrones & the Shakedown at M’Town in Martin & propelled him to the #1 Spot in Pro275 Points going into the Final Series event No Mercy 17 at South Georgia Motorsports Park next month.

There was also Limited Drag Radial, where Jamie Hancock had a strong points lead in the FuelTech Radial Outlaw Racing Series, with a few of the big hitters like Shane Stack & Tommy Youmans trying to close the gap.

Hancock continued his ways in LDR by qualifying #1 with a 3.888/184.19 during Friday Night’s Qualifying. Brian Weddle, the son of Jeff of Wild Bunch & USSC fame, qualified #2 with a 3.928. The top 8 all received bye runs; however, #4 qualifier Jon Walters couldn’t come back, eliminating him. Shane Stack had a competition Single after Fran Schatz was unable to return & he ran a 3.942 at 197.19 Top speed of the event. #10 Qualifier Dale Arnold also received a competition single as Bob Monaghan couldn’t answer the call & ran a 3.979/185.74, his best ET of the weekend

Sunday Eliminations had its share of moments. Hancock capped his dominant performance by taking the win with a 3.890 at 185.26, his best speed of the weekend. With this Win, Hancock puts himself in control of his own destiny going into No Mercy, 160.5 points ahead of second-place Youmans in the LDR points.

Ultra Street had one of the biggest winning purses in the class, with $15000 to the winner & it drew over 32 Competitors to do battle. FuelTech Radial Outlaw Racing Series Ultra Street points leader Jessie Coulter was there with his Green Turbocharged Mustang & 2nd in points Ronny Rhodes was looking to overtake Coulter. Other Radial Outlaw Racing Series competitors, including Joe Glockner’s White Turbocharged Camaro, Dave Fiscus’s Mustang & Joshua Schwartz, were there. Even some tough players like Ryan Grigsby from Texas & the Pro Street Legend, former NBA Star Tom Hammonds wanted that $15k check.

The #1 Qualifier in Ultra Street was the always-fast Steve Romeo in his ProCharger Nova, running a 4.406/162.43, followed by a trio of Mustangs: Connor Hartsock’s “Nitrous Outlet” at 4.435/158.93, Bob Cook’s ProCharger-powered Stang at 4.436/158.32 & Paul Burchill at 4.437/160.37. Reaction Times? We got a tale of 2 of them: Eddie Aleshire went .000 perfect with a 4.496/162.70 to take down #23 qualifier Chris Cruisse’s 4.652/144.43. Meanwhile Points leader Jessie Coulter got a gift against Massengale when Massengale went .001 Red & threw away a 4.477/157.36 to Coulter’s winning time of a 4.441/160.50, his best run of the event.

Round 2 started right off the Bat with Ultra Big hitters Grigsby & Fiscus, with Fiscus going .015 red, throwing away a 4.551/159.29 against Grigsby’s 4.447/158.26. Then just like in Pro275 Earlier, it was #1 Qualifier Vs #1 in points as Steve Romeo took on Jessie Coulter, Coulter’s troubles returned & Romeo drove away & into the 30s for the first time in the event with a 4.398/161.79. Ronny Rhodes & Joe Glockner continued their marches through round 2 winning their matchups on holeshots as Rhodes defeated Justus with a 4.491/158.37 going .027 on the tree to overcome Justus’s 4.483/155.26 with a reaction time that started with a .2 & Glockner was 3 hundreths better out of the gate on #24 qualifier Josh McCoy .010 to .040 & ran 4.466/157.37 to McCoy’s 4.448/160.27. #4 Qualifier Burchill ended Tom Hammonds’s Yellowbullet weekend with a 4.459/160.75, with Hammonds losing 4.520 at an off-the-throttle 136.98. Aleshire used a .006 light to take down Mitchell 4.449/163.18, Aleshire’s best speed of the weekend. It would be a double breakout with Muller running a 4.310/162.53 on his 4.32 dial to take the $5000 check over Riegel’s 4.374/160.27 on his 4.39 dial.

The Index Racers were also there as the 8.50 title went to the man known as “Honk” Rick Steinke & his Dragweek 67 Chevelle, defeating George P.
