One of the most anticipated street car drag racing events of the year is set to storm Bradenton Motorsports Park this weekend, as FL2K presented by Brian Crower takes over the Florida facility Oct. 2-5. Known for showcasing some of the quickest and fastest street cars on the planet \u2013 from high-horsepower imports to hard-hitting domestics \u2013 FL2K will once again deliver big-money payouts, thrilling side-by-side action, and an atmosphere unlike any other.<\/p>\n

For Bradenton Motorsports Park co-owner and event promoter Victor Alvarez, the event carries special significance. In the years that followed his first FL2K in 2013, he purchased the track from Alan Chervitz, and most recently brought in close friend Garrett Mitchell \u2013 also known as YouTube sensation Cleetus McFarland \u2013 as a co-owner.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cFL2K is the event that kind of led me here to BMP,\u201d Alvarez said. \u201cI had been coming to BMP since I moved here from New York in 2005. I made my very first pass down a track here at BMP, fell in love with it, and came very often from then on. In 2013, we did our first FL2K. I met Alan, he gave me the opportunity, and the rest is kind of history. From there, later on through FL2K I met Garrett and we became good friends. I connected Garrett with Alan. We did events \u2013 the three of us \u2013 here at BMP. A lot has happened since then. I\u2019m extremely grateful for all of it. But FL2K will always have a very special place in my heart just because it\u2019s the event that has made all of this possible for me and led me here. It\u2019s a really cool event. Really good vibe. One-of-a-kind event in my opinion. If you know, you know, and if you don\u2019t know, you\u2019ve gotta get out here.\u201d<\/p>\n

This year, racers and fans will not only experience record-setting runs and intense competition \u2013 with over $150,000 in payouts on the line \u2013 but also a long list of facility upgrades at BMP designed to improve the overall experience. Many of the upgrades were made in conjunction with Mitchell and his Freedom Factory, the multi-purpose circle track adjacent to BMP.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve got this facility right and tight and ready for you guys,\u201d Alvarez said. \u201cFor me, it\u2019s the little things. We\u2019ll have all-new signage everywhere. Track maps everywhere to show you where you\u2019re at and where you may want to go. Got the entrance road striped. If you\u2019re a racer or sponsor or VIP, you\u2019ll come to gate two. Everyone else will go to gate one. VIPs will park directly across from the tower. Racers and sponsors will come down to the end of the new entrance road and be greeted by BMP\/FL2K staff.\u201d<\/p>\n

Among the updates are a new and improved ticket booth \u2013 complete with air conditioning \u2013 and an improved BOXO USA tech building that eliminates congestion from years past. The tech building is outfitted with a BOXO USA toolbox, a large LED weight display by the scale, and ample space for staging. Alvarez noted, \u201cIt\u2019s really nice for our guys to be able to work inside of a building and have all their tools and everything set up.\u201d<\/p>\n

Other enhancements include new sponsor signage, a dedicated oil dump behind the tech building, striped entrances to streamline traffic flow, and track maps with QR codes for quick access to the time slip app and radio station.<\/p>\n

Even the small details will catch fans\u2019 eyes, including a pink-painted starting line, fresh merchandise like limited-edition FL2K Heatwave Visual sunglasses, and improved parking access to keep BMP and the neighboring Freedom Factory events running smoothly.<\/p>\n

With Alvarez and Mitchell both set to compete alongside an international roster of street car standouts, the stage is set for another unforgettable edition of FL2K.\u201cThis place looks beautiful. We\u2019re so excited,\u201d Alvarez said. \u201cIt gives it a real nice feel and look when you pull up here. If you know FL2K, you know what to expect \u2013 the fastest street cars in the world, imports and domestics, battling it out.
