With major shakeups in nearly every class, new faces in the winner\u2019s circle, and milestones that tug at the heartstrings of SEGA faithful, this Southern Nationals presented by Harbin\u2019s Mechanical Services will be one for the books.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1600\" height=\"900\" src=\"https:\/\/dragillustrated.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/DIFeatureImage-SEGA-Ringgold-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-87334\" \/><\/figure>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Barry Adler Steals the A\/Gas Spotlight from the Big Dogs<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>A\/Gas is always the headliner, and in Ringgold, it was Barry Adler\u2019s breakout moment. The SEGA rookie from Quick Time Performance ran the table with his Iron Eagle Corvette, slicing through a bracket stacked with veterans, including Alan Pittman and Ben Christopher. Meanwhile, series points leader and SEGA owner Leslie Horne fell in the quarters, and Chase Howard \u2013 the top qualifier in his USA-1 Chevelle \u2013 saw his transmission break in the final. That handed Adler his first SEGA Cup and bragging rights over the series boss. \u201cIf I wanted to come to play, go A\/Gas \u2013 this is just amazing,\u201d Adler grinned. \u201cAnd of course, Leslie is not going to hear the end of this one.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1600\" height=\"900\" src=\"https:\/\/dragillustrated.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/DIFeatureImage-SEGA-Ringgold-3.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-87335\" \/><\/figure>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Charlie Lee Ends the Renegade\u2019s B\/Gas Streak<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Ken Rainwater was gunning for three straight wins in B\/Gas, and it looked like the Renegade had the goods after qualifying No. 1. But a loose set screw and slipped fuel pump belt at 150 feet cost him the final. That left the door wide open for longtime SEGA regular Charlie Lee in the Tennessee Charlie Mustang to score a long-awaited first win. \u201cWe\u2019ve been running with these guys for years,\u201d Lee said. \u201cToday was our day.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1600\" height=\"900\" src=\"https:\/\/dragillustrated.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/DIFeatureImage-SEGA-Ringgold-4.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-87336\" \/><\/figure>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>100 Starts Later, Ernie Smith Still Has the Fire \u2013 But Perdue Has the Pace<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>C\/Gas delivered both a sentimental milestone and a show-stopping performance. Ernie Smith made his\u00a0100th consecutive SEGA start, the first racer in history to hit that mark, and drove his\u00a0<em>Saturday Night Special<\/em>\u00a0Chevy all the way to the final. But standing between him and a storybook win was points leader Jerren Perdue in the\u00a0<em>Stud Muffin<\/em>\u00a0wagon. Perdue threw down his fourth consecutive 6.05-second run of the day to edge out Smith\u2019s best-of-day 6.13. \u201cWe could\u2019ve bracket raced this thing today,\u201d laughed Perdue. \u201cIt ran the same number all day. I knew I had to cut a good light. Ernie and I meet at every SEGA event. I\u2019m glad to pull this one off.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1600\" height=\"900\" src=\"https:\/\/dragillustrated.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/DIFeatureImage-SEGA-Ringgold-5.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-87337\" \/><\/figure>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Rob Walden Finally Grabs Gold in Super Stock<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>For years, Rob Walden has bounced across SEGA\u2019s top categories \u2013 A\/Gas, A\/FX, and now Super Stock. But Brainerd marked his\u00a0first-ever class win, outlasting undefeated 2024 champ Jerry Dean, who battled mechanical issues in the final. \u201cWe\u2019re here! We made it!\u201d shouted a fired-up Walden. \u201cBeen racing with SEGA since 2019, and this is my first class win. We\u2019re here \u2013 loving what we do \u2013 happy to be here.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1600\" height=\"900\" src=\"https:\/\/dragillustrated.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/DIFeatureImage-SEGA-Ringgold-6.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-87338\" \/><\/figure>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Lil\u2019 Indian Strikes Twice, Corn Pops the Rambler<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>H\/Gas and A\/FX are becoming must-watch divisions in SEGA action. In H\/Gas, points leader Robert Fraizer was stopped cold in round one on a holeshot upset by Todd Hinds. That set the stage for\u00a0Colby Welch, who wheeled his\u00a0<em>Lil\u2019 Indian<\/em> Anglia to a second-straight win over Hinds in the final.<\/p>\n<p>In A\/FX, the debut of Randy Jensen\u2019s stunning MOPAR machine turned heads, but it was\u00a0Todd Wimberly\u00a0who emerged victorious in\u00a0<em>Southern Comfort<\/em>\u00a0\u2013 aided by a post-race technical infraction that disqualified Jeffrey Ferguson. Still, a win\u2019s a win, and Wimberly took it in stride.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1600\" height=\"900\" src=\"https:\/\/dragillustrated.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/DIFeatureImage-SEGA-Ringgold-7.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-87339\" \/><\/figure>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Next Stop: Jackson Dragway \u2013 Gassers Invade for the First Time<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The thunder might have missed Ringgold, but the rumble sure didn\u2019t.
