By Sunday, it became clear the issue was major: the harmonic balancer had split in half. With no spare in sight and the final eliminations underway, Hollis and his father improvised a solution straight out of a grassroots racing movie \u2013 rigging up an old RYOBI cordless drill with zip ties and electrical tape to keep the water pump turning and battery charging.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1600\" height=\"900\" src=\"https:\/\/dragillustrated.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/DIFeatureImage-Michael-Hollis-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-87206\" \/><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cIt worked,\u201d Hollis said. \u201cWe made it all the way to the finals against my buddy Aaron Fowler and laid down our best pass of the weekend to take the freaking win.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Hollis\u2019 perseverance perfectly embodied the KOTOR spirit \u2013 a drag-and-drive-style event that blends scenic cruising, street car racing, and good vibes in a grassroots environment.
