{"id":101577,"date":"2025-07-03T17:18:29","date_gmt":"2025-07-03T17:18:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/racepages.com\/Videos\/drag-racing\/uncategorized\/terry-haddock-returns-to-ihra-outlaw-nitro-series-to-finish-what-he-started\/"},"modified":"2025-07-03T17:18:29","modified_gmt":"2025-07-03T17:18:29","slug":"terry-haddock-returns-to-ihra-outlaw-nitro-series-to-finish-what-he-started","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/racepages.com\/Videos\/drag-racing\/uncategorized\/terry-haddock-returns-to-ihra-outlaw-nitro-series-to-finish-what-he-started\/","title":{"rendered":"Terry Haddock Returns to IHRA Outlaw Nitro Series to Finish What He Started"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It\u2019s been nearly two decades since Terry Haddock last strapped into his family-owned Nitro Funny Car for a IHRA national event on a regular basis \u2013 and when he did, he walked away as the champ.<\/p>\n<p>Now, 17 years later, Haddock and his family-run Terry Haddock Racing team are making their return to the newly revived IHRA Outlaw Nitro Series, set to open July 12-13 at National Trail Raceway outside Columbus, Ohio.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s incredible to see the IHRA Outlaw Nitro series making a comeback,\u201d said Haddock. \u201cThis organization has played a big role in my racing career, and to have the chance to compete again \u2013 especially after winning the final title before the series went away \u2013 means a lot to our entire team.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"2000\" height=\"1333\" src=\"https:\/\/dragillustrated.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/IMG_20220921_215459_Original.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-86324\" \/><\/figure>\n<p>In 2008, Haddock won the final IHRA Funny Car championship before the series was shelved, never getting the chance to defend the title or run the No. 1 on the side of his car. But this summer, he\u2019s finally getting that shot \u2013 and this time, he\u2019s not taking anything for granted.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve really worked hard to refine our program and clean it up, and the car runs real well,\u201d Haddock said. \u201cIt\u2019s pretty awesome that we\u2019re going to get the chance to go defend it \u2013 even if it\u2019s 17 years later.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Joining Haddock on the entry list for the series kickoff are Dale Creasy Jr. and Jack Wyatt \u2013 the only other drivers from that 2008 IHRA season returning to the fold. While many of the class\u2019s top names have moved on or stepped away from the driver\u2019s seat, this trio\u2019s participation brings a sense of full-circle energy to the rebirth of the series.<\/p>\n<p>Haddock\u2019s independent Nitro Funny Car operation has long been a staple of the NHRA tour \u2013 built on perseverance, grit, and a genuine love of the sport.
