\u201cI\u2019m gonna have to work up to that, bud,\u201d Stewart said. \u201cI feel like driving a fuel car is way easier than driving a Pro Mod.\u201d<\/p>\n
Despite his background in sprint cars, NASCAR Cup cars, and now Top Fuel, Stewart made it clear that Pro Mods have always had a certain reputation in his mind, largely thanks to what he saw when he first started attending NHRA events regularly.<\/p>\n
\u201cI didn\u2019t start going to races on a regular basis till I started dating Leah [Pruett],\u201d he said. \u201cAnd every weekend, somebody was tipping over a Pro Mod. It was like going to a damn sprint car race.\u201d<\/p>\n
Stewart didn\u2019t hold back when it came to explaining what makes the wild doorslammer class so intimidating.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey may be slower, but man, I look at those bodies and I\u2019m like, golly, they have no side force in them,\u201d he said. \u201cThat thing gets sideways, and the doors are rolled under. I know what happens here \u2014 this is Daytona-Talladega all over again.\u201d<\/p>\n
While he\u2019s not ruling it out, Stewart made it clear that it would take time before he\u2019d consider suiting up in a Pro Mod.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s gonna take some practice to get to that level,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
For now, Stewart\u2019s focused on his full-time Top Fuel campaign\u2014and with momentum on his side, it doesn\u2019t look like he\u2019ll be switching classes anytime soon.<\/p>\n\n
