When Keith Haney Racing rolls into the\u00a0Throwdown in T-Town\u00a0on\u00a0May 9-10\u00a0at\u00a0Osage Casino & Hotel Tulsa Raceway Park, it won\u2019t be Keith Haney himself behind the wheel of the\u00a0Black Mamba\u00a0Pro Mod \u2014 it\u2019ll be none other than powerhouse driver\u00a0Marcus Birt, aka \u201cThe Axeman.\u201d<\/p>\n

Haney, Founder, competitor and two-time Pro Mod champion of the Summit Racing Mid-West Drag Racing Series (MWDRS) presented by J&A Service, is stepping aside for a worthy reason: attending his daughter\u2019s graduation as she earns her Master\u2019s degree.<\/p>\n

\u201cI want to be there to support her \u2014 she\u2019s done such a great job,\u201d Haney said. \u201cBut don\u2019t think for a second we\u2019re backing down from competition. Marcus is a badass driver, and I know he\u2019ll drive the wheels off the Black Mamba.\u201d<\/p>\n

Birt, no stranger to the Pro Mod spotlight, is set to shake up the MWDRS field with his return to nitrous-powered competition. Known for piloting his iconic nitrous Corvette nicknamed\u00a0John Gotti.<\/em>\u00a0Marcus has been as quick as\u00a03.55 at 208 MPH\u00a0on a radial tire and has run\u00a0low 3.60s\u00a0in Pro Mod trim. He\u2019s excited to get back in the seat \u2014 especially one with this much bite.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s going to be cool driving the Black Mamba,\u201d said Birt. \u201cI haven\u2019t been in a nitrous Pro Mod in a few years, and I\u2019m ready to get back in. We\u2019re going to be ready \u2014 I\u2019m looking forward to driving in front of the Tulsa crowd.\u201d<\/p>\n

The move is strategic. MWDRS rules state that points stay with the\u00a0team, not the\u00a0driver, which means every race matters in the chase for a championship. With Haney aiming for his\u00a0third\u00a0Pro Mod title, putting a proven winner in the driver\u2019s seat was essential.<\/p>\n

Haney\u2019s tuner,\u00a0Brandon Switzer, is famously selective about who he trusts with the Black Mamba\u2019s power \u2014 and he\u2019s fully confident in Birt\u2019s capabilities.<\/p>\n

\u201cBrandon doesn\u2019t let just anyone drive this car,\u201d Haney said. \u201cHe respects Marcus and believes in what he brings to the table.\u201d<\/p>\n

This isn\u2019t the first time Haney and Birt have crossed paths on track. The two famously grudge-raced<\/a> at the\u00a0World Series of Pro Mod\u00a0in Florida a few years back. Now, the roles flip as Birt takes the wheel of Haney\u2019s flagship machine, aiming to keep the championship momentum alive.<\/p>\n

Fans can catch all the action at\u00a0Throwdown in T-Town, one of the biggest races of the year at\u00a0Tulsa Raceway Park. With\u00a0incredible races,\u00a0VIP Suites,\u00a0Starting Line Access, and a special\u00a0Tailgate Section, this event is a must-attend for diehard drag racing fans.<\/p>\n
