We Drag Race A New and Classic Ford Shelby Mustang GT500 To See What 50 Years Of Progress Makes!

( http://www.TFLcar.com ) The Ford Shelby Mustang GT500 is the most iconic high performance mustang. The new one, with a 5.2L supercharged V8 will do zero to sixty in 3.3 seconds and the quarter mile in the 10 second range. In this episode we compare it to a 1967 Ford Shelby Mustang in a good old school drag race comparison!

  1. now lets race the 1967 ford against a 1917 ford and see if 50 years still makes a difference. Whodathunk just 50 years of technology would make such a difference.

  2. It is amazing how ugly a new GT500 can be compared to a car that is 50 years older lol. Mustang has had some funky looking models over the years, but ever since the mid 90's that car has been kind of off… Just look at the 1967!!!! It's freaking beautiful.

  3. If I had a choice between a new Mustang or a fully rebuilt Stang from 67 thru 69, I'd take the old one 100 out of 100. The old Stangs just look so much better than the ones of today.. To each his own I guess.. Nothing beats the original!!

  4. Put some alloy heads with a hand port job, bigger cam and better dual 4bbl intake. 428ci with the induction done right will make 700hp.
Also add more stall in too and the old one would drop into the 11's maybe even tickle the 10's.

  5. Well euther way the new gt500 cool and all but id have the 67 gt 500 anyday over the new one and witha good set of tires and a few upgrades to the motor trans and supension very small upgrades you could cut that number way down time wise and raise that speed number

  6. Running 11s. Is pretty good…back in the day…that was just bad ass !
P.S. He came off the line a little slow…I think he hesitated a second ….he did better the second time though.

  7. Should I buy the new shelby and put in in a barn up on blocks and not touch it for the next 50 years? Wait, I’ll be 113 years old then…

  8. It's just a fact that the "muscle cars" of the 60's, 70's, 80's really didn't have much muscle. 40 years from now, they'll be saying the same thing about cars like the newer 3.3 second Mustang. Hard to imagine, but time keeps moving, and performance keeps improving.

  9. Gawd damn… I was turning mid 12s with my built dail driven 289 1966 Mustang… but then again, I had a 175 shot of NOS on it with a 2.79 rear OPEN rear end running Radial T/As. That 67 should be going a LOT quicker. But then again, any of these would get absolutely SMOKED by a Tesla, especially a Plaid, running low 9's on it's street tires.

  10. I'd pick the older Mustang, because when I wasn't driving it I could enjoy how cool it looks. The new one would make me use a calculator trying to average out daily how much I was losing on depreciation, high insurance and cost of ownership, upkeep/repairs. One is a pleasure the other is a burden.

  11. Something is wrong I had a 65 Malibu SS with a 327 at 385 hp and I turned in the high 12"s my friend had a 1967 cobra with a 429 cobra jet engine at 425 hp and he turned in the high 11's

  12. In perfect weather no headwinds not that they had that there stock the new car….. 10.7……. 134…….. The old car brand new fast backs …. 14.1…. 102……. Convertibles.. 14.54…… 100. If you didn't know now you know

  13. My Toyota Avalon would better that time. The classics are relics. And 350 hp back then was gross hp not like today. So really 350 hp back then is like 290 today.

  14. Sadly China dictates the end of use of all combustion cars worldwide. Chinas boss Darth Xi told our EU politicians that they wont do any business with underdeveloped countries that still allow CO2 emitting traffic or combustion based industry after 2030…I am sure USA and UK also will be forced by China to 100% electric traffic because today no industrialized country can afford sanctions by China…. China just rules the world…:-(////
