Randy Meyer Racing is proud to announce that Matt Cummings will join the team for the 2025 NHRA season as a full-time driver. With an impressive background in drag racing, Cummings is ready to take the next step in his career with one of the top drag racing teams.
“Matt’s previous experience and dedication makes him an excellent addition to our team,” said Randy Meyer, team owner, crew chief and veteran driver. “We’re excited to work with someone that has already won races in Top Alcohol Dragster (TAD) as he continues to hone his skills and grow as a competitor. His drive to win aligns with our team’s goals, and we look forward to helping him achieve his championship aspirations.”
Randy Meyer Racing is coming off a remarkable 2024 season, where the team captured 10 race wins. The team has accumulated over 100 NHRA wins, five world championships, and numerous regional championships, including victories during Randy Meyer’s own racing career. This season marks Randy Meyer Racing’s 46th year of drag racing, further solidifying its legacy as one of the most dominant teams in the sport.
“When I acquired my Top Alcohol Dragster license, Randy was the team I wanted to be a part of someday,” claimed Matt Cummings. “All the teams watched and paid attention to Randy’s team. Their professionalism, presentation and performance on the track aligned with my expectations. The Randy Meyer Racing Team also gives me the best opportunity to move to Top Fuel.”
Since his youth, Cummings has been immersed in the world of racing, beginning with his father’s purchase of a 1959 Corvette Roadster. Saturdays spent around fast cars and the racing community sparked his lifelong passion for the sport. Later, as a father, Cummings began traveling with his two daughters to divisional events, eventually investing in his first Super Comp Dragster. In 2011, Cummings earned his TAD license from Frank Hawley’s School of Drag Racing and has since driven for two other teams, securing two regional championships and a second-place finish in the 2022 national standings.
Now, Cummings is focused on refining his driving skills with Randy Meyer Racing and setting his sights on a third regional championship, with a goal of ultimately competing for a world championship.
“I feel with my experience from over 500-plus runs in TAD, I can contribute to the team. Mostly I’m looking forward to my first run in competition and the verbal exchange about how the car should react from Randy Meyer,” stated Cummings.
Watch Matt Cummings in his first NHRA race with Randy Meyer Racing as he begins the chase for the championship at the Baby Gators and GatorNationals, February 28 through March 1 and then again March 6-9 at Gainesville Raceway in Gainesville, Florida. Fans can watch the nitro action live on NHRA.tv.
