The 2025 WDRA Summit Bracket Finals presented by Laris Motorsports Insurance launched at Eddyville Raceway Park for the Midwest stop on the series tour. Rosters of racers who represented Mid America Dragway, Cordova Dragway, I-29 Dragway, Mo-Kan Dragway, and the host facility competed in two gamblers races and the main event. Mid America clinched the overall team championship with 46 points over the reigning champions, Cordova, with 44 points. The remaining standings saw Eddyville in third with 41, I-29 with 25, the bracket buster team with 10, and Mo-Kan Dragway with 4 points.
The on-track action began with Friday’s Gamblers Race with four classes for drivers to cash in. In the Box class, Mid America’s Jeremy Hook put together a .015 total package to leave Cordova’s Mark Clark mathematically ineligible with his .021 reaction time. It was an all-Eddyville No Box final round where Pam Vogel earned the stress-free win after Dustin De Haan left a red light shining on the tree. A family feud was witnessed in the Junior Dragster final as Jillian Pfohl took the .015 margin of victory over James Pfohl, both representatives of Cordova. Mid America snagged another early win in the Teen Racing class as nearly identical reaction times ended with Jaleigh Lightsey earning the win over Nolan Masseil’s breakout run while representing I-29 Dragway.
Bragging rights went to Craig Blanton from Mo-Kan Dragway in the Track Operator’s Race as he ran closer to his dial-in to secure the win over Nicole VanDeVelde from Cordova Dragway.
An increase in the intensity occurred on Saturday as everyone’s attention shifted to their ultimate goal: conquering the Main Event. Class champions would earn cash, the coveted WDRA Rod trophies, and a WDRA Champion card, while eligible winners would also secure an invitation to the WDRA Summit World Championship event.
Mid America’s Jeremy Hook claimed his second consecutive win by running dead-on his 4.54 dial-in beside Rob McGee from Eddyville, who broke out four thousandths. Cordova claims the No Box championship when Ryan Robinson’s .001 reaction time propels him into the winner’s circle over Austin Easter from Eddyville. The Sportsman Main Event final was a Mid America familial face-off between Rocky and Dale Randall. Dale launches with a .010 red light while Randall earns the Midwest Bracket Finals Sportsman Champion title for the second year in a row.
The third Mid America Champion is found in the Junior Dragster class when Kyle Miller earns the memorable win over Trey Ratcliffe from I-29 Dragway. Cordova Dragway returns to the winner’s circle when Joe Klemme runs dead-on his 5.83 dial-in to claim the Motorcycle victory over Bill Anderson from Eddyville. Johnathan Clipp from I-29 uses a starting line advantage to become the Teen Champion over Jaleigh Lightsey from Mid America.
Saturday also featured another Gamblers Race, and the home team found two racers in the Box final round, where Kyle Vogel turned a .001 reaction time into a .014 margin of victory over Gavin Lamb. Fred Kaufman (Mid America) laid down a .026 total package in the No Box final round to leave Cole Robinson from Cordova mathematically ineligible. A pair of eight-second rides staged up in the Junior Dragster final as Nolan Masek (I-29) cuts a better light to take the win over Eddyville’s Maxx Laffoon. An all-Eddyville Teen final round ended in the double-breakout win going to Heston Bru, while Gracie Fox settled for the runner-up position.
Various Special Awards were distributed during the WDRA Summit Midwest Bracket Finals presented by Laris Motorsports Insurance. Roger Fox (Mid America) was deemed the Best Appearing Open Bodied Car, while Jeff VanSant (Eddyville) earned the Best Appearing Full Bodied Car honors, and Jillian Pfohl (Cordova) was wheeling the Best Appearing Junior Dragster. Mo-Kan Dragway cheered the loudest and took home the Best Team Spirit award, Mid America’s style earned the Best Decorated Grandstand award, and I-29 Dragway can brag about being the Best Appearing Team.
