After a historic showing at the Snowbird Outlaw Nationals presented by Motion Raceworks, the start of the inaugural Drag Illustrated Winter Series presented by J&A Service, the quickest field in Pro Modified drag racing history will reconvene at Bradenton Motorsports Park, Jan. 23-26, for the U.S. Street Nationals presented by M&M Transmission. Additionally, the U.S. Street Nationals will host the second 2024-25 season event for the FuelTech Radial Outlaw Series. The weekend will also feature competition in several additional classes like Outlaw 632, the fan-favorite N/T No Time Shootout and more.
“We’re excited for the U.S. Street Nationals because we’ve got the heavy hitters that weren’t able to be at the Snowbird Outlaw Nationals,” said Victor Alvarez, track owner and promoter. “Then, on the flip side, many of these teams were just here a couple of months ago for the first event of the DI Winter Series, but they’ve had time to get things refreshened for this second event. You’ll see new cars, new engine combinations, and new parts getting put through the paces this weekend. Fans of Pro Mod, radial racing, and more are in for a show.”
“I thought we raised the bar at the Snowbird Outlaw Nationals, but the U.S. Street Nationals presented by M&M Transmission is set to absolutely obliterate that standard,” said Wes Buck, Drag Illustrated founder and DI Winter Series promoter. “We’re talking about even better conditions than last month, so if the good Lord is willing, we’ve got a flat-out badass drag race in store.”
The M&M Transmission Outlaw Pro Mod presented by FuelTech & PJS Racing entry list features more than 65 drivers who will attempt to qualify for the $75,000-to-win, 32-car field in the outlaw eighth mile. The drivers include defending event champion Mark Micke, the newly crowned Snowbirds champion and NPK star Kye Kelley, runner-up Ken Quartuccio, and reigning NPK champion Shawn “Murder Nova” Ellington, who is set to make his Pro Mod debut. The list also includes standouts from numerous Pro Mod groups, including PDRA Pro Nitrous and Pro Boost, Mid-West Drag Racing Series Pro Mod, NHRA Pro Mod, NMCA Xtreme Pro Mod, and Street Outlaws: No Prep Kings.
“We’re sitting around 70 Pro Mod entries, which is just incredible,” Buck added. “Some folks are a little nervous about testing and the forecast, but on the flip side, I’ve got guys who are literally driving across the country in untested, brand-new race cars, ready to see how they stack up against the best in the world. It’s going to be an all-out slugfest.”
“It’s always been one of my goals to make Bradenton a Pro Mod hotspot,” Alvarez said. “We’re always trying to raise the bar for our racers, and in turn, the racers have supported us in a big way. Entries typically sell out minutes after they go on sale. A lot of the Pro Mod teams test here over the winter. They know what it takes to run fast here, making for tight fields in qualifying and side-by-side racing on race day.”
The U.S. Street Nationals is the second race of the 2024-25 FuelTech Radial Outlaws Racing Series schedule. Though Radial vs. the World won’t compete this weekend, PST Driveshafts Pro 275 presented by Pro Line Racing will bring big horsepower riding on small tires for $15,000 to win. The radial lineup also features $10,000-to-win Motion Raceworks X275 presented by Precision Turbo & Engine, $10,000-to-win Energy Manufacturing Limited Drag Radial presented by Callies Performance, $5,000-to-win TRZ Motorsports Ultra Street presented by Innovative Racecraft, and SP Tools Limited 235 presented by ICE Ignition ($2,500 to win).
On top of Outlaw Pro Mod and the Radial Outlaws, the U.S. Street Nationals will have TBM Brakes Outlaw 632 presented by Rife Sensors, competing for $5,000 to win, as well as the Mickey Thompson Tires N/T No Time Shootout presented by Florida N/T Racing, the Larry Jeffers Race Cars No Time Truck Shootout presented by Summit Racing Equipment, and the index classes: Billet Specialities 5.50 Index presented by SRQ Plumbing, Real Street 6.50 Index presented by Braille Batteries, and Red Horse Performance 7.50 Index presented by UPR Products.
“The U.S. Street Nationals has something for everybody,” Alvarez said. “The fastest Pro Mods, the fastest radial cars, some of the best vendors in the industry, and more. We’re not just hosting races; we’re creating experiences and memories. It’s about more than just the cars—it’s about the people and the stories. It’s going to be an amazing weekend.”
Bradenton Motorsports Park will offer testing Monday through Wednesday leading up to the U.S. Street Nationals, with qualifying kicking off at 9 a.m. on Thursday. A second session at 2 p.m. will wrap up Thursday qualifying. Qualifying continues Friday with sessions scheduled for 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. and wraps up on Saturday at 11:30 a.m. Eliminations will begin on Saturday as well at 2:45 p.m. and will continue on Sunday at 9 a.m.
”We see different weather at different times of the year, and it’s all part of what makes Bradenton special,” Alvarez said. “Prepping the facility for something like the U.S. Street Nationals is a huge undertaking, but it’s worth it when everything comes together.”
“I can’t wait for things to get rolling on Thursday. There’s no doubt in my mind we’re going to see some truly historic runs at the U.S. Street Nationals this weekend. It’s going to be one for the books,” Buck said.
