It’s time for a BMW M3 v BMW M3 drag race!!

That’s right, we’ve got the new BMW M3 xDrive going head-to-head with the standard BMW M3 RWD, and we want to see just how much performance differs between these saloon powerhouses.

Given they’re just AWD & RWD models, they’re powered by the exact same engine – a glorious 3-litre twin-turbo straight-six that puts down 510hp & 650Nm of torque. There are a few minor differences though… The AWD system adds 50kg of weight compared to the RWD edition, and it’ll also cost you £3,000 more!

So what do you think – does the RWD edition stand a chance? There’s only one way to find out – LET’S RACE!

  1. Never had AWD and I'm in a country in Europe, there's freezing temperatures in the winter, icy roads a couple of weeks a year, snow on the roads a couple of days a year and I haven't ever, not even when roads were covered in snow, wished I had AWD – it doesn't help you with safety at all, all it does is you accelerate faster and it can get you out of mud off road. The biggest concern is braking I was never afraid of going uphill, downhill is another story. So yeah. Not worth it for me.

  2. Successful people don't become that way overnight. What most people see at a glance wealth, a great career, purpose is the result of hard work and hustle over time. I pray that anyone who reads this will be successful in life

  3. Matt is a snob, isn’t he? Why was he like words words words? When his friend is not the one who is creating the BMW, but is merely a driver of the car…

  4. So if you regularly drive at 140+ and live somewhere where it never rains then get the RWD but assuming you don't then get the xDrive.
The comments below about turning the xDrive RWD option on are just bizarre. The RWD car wins easily then as it's lighter.
