That sucks about the block not being done right the 1st time. Complete stock engines have been low 8's with no issues. David Van Voris stock motor tear down running low 8's, engine still looked brand new. Most of these motors can take a lot.
I think you have a bad converter

Mine does it bad when it's cold especially if I go from reverse to drive cold….but insanely if i back it in and go to D without going to R first it engages faster…takes when it was cold like 7 or 8 seconds to go to D from R…. 🙁
Mine was 1.5qts low from factory and doesnt make remotely the power you do

you have some sticking valves.. start with dropping the fluid and seeing whats in the filter.. probably enough clutch material in the screen to starve the pump and stick the valves
It does seem like there is an issue with 2nd gear but that being said, my co-workers ‘18 f-150 is having similar issues with the slamming into drive and clunky shifting especially at low rpms. It’s also doing this thing where if you are idling at low speed like say through a parking lot and step on the gas easily it will free rev like it’s in neutral then slam into gear.

Sounds to me like sensors oss iss erratic shifting is usually sensors
2018 Mustang GT 10r80, bone stock braking for a left turn is all it took to break my transmission, pile of crap made it 5,000 miles before blowing up due to a defect found during the rebuild. Now many many many months later there is a bad vibration they can't figure out. People knock the 3V's, I drag raced mine with a blower on it for 4 years without a problem 100 passes, all it took to take out the mighty 10r80 was a left turn. How people who race them get so much out of the is beyond me considering how prevalent this problem is.
E4od’s did the same thing bad converter will ruin a trans in no time.

Have you tried clearing out the adaptive learning tables for the transmission? My 10R80 was downshifting on hwy, skipping gears, and just feeling off. I cleared out the data tables for adaptive learning, and so far it’s back to normal.
