I wish I would have bought my hub dyno earlier then I did
Personally, I'm on the fence about it. I agree 100% that it helps teams to iron out details with tune ups and setups. It allows them to do all the r&d in the shop setting. The problem I see is that it has created a situation where if you don't have one, you cannot compete. Further inflating the cost of certain classes in the sport. Drag racing started out as grass roots people racing each other and the smarter, more clever person was usually the victor. Guys used to trailer their funny cars on open trailers with a pickup truck and a toolbox. The fuel racers used off the shelf blowers and engine parts. Now the fuel teams make their own blowers and the cost is astronomical. If you don't have them, you can't compete. They apply traction compound all the way to the finish line to eliminate all the variables with the track surface. Makes me wonder whats next. Maybe we should run them in a climate controlled environment so they can go faster. I think we are seeing drag racing turn into a rich guys only sport. It reminds me of the situation with Harley Davidson motorcycles. The price inflated so high that the only people that could buy them were people who could afford to blow 20 or 30 grand. It totally changed the demographic of harley riders. They priced their customers out of the sport. Technology is very powerful but very dangerous.
